Frank A. Cona
On March 4, 2024, of South Philadelphia. Age 83. Beloved husband of Carol (nee Magri). Devoted father of Peter A. Cona (JoAnn), Wendy Graziano (Nick) and Frank A. Cona, Jr. (Buffy). Dear step-father of John Magri, Frank Magri and Dawn Morrison (Kirk). Loving grandfather of Francesca (John), Antonia, Alex, Ava, Christian, Blake and Lucia. Dear brother of AnnaRose Cusick (Fred) and the late Nancy Kraft. Also survived by his brother-in-law Joseph Kraft. Loved by many nieces and nephews.
Frank Cona, also known as Frankie Chadmoore, grew up in South Philadelphia and lived most of his life in Southwest Philadelphia. Well-known and respected through his business, Chadmoore Formal Wear, he exemplified family and business.
He was the patriarch of the family and an icon in small family business. He and his business became a staple in South Philadelphia, where he made many lifelong friends and treated them like family. Frank would enjoy many holidays and family traditions surrounded by his many family members. He would cherish family events, where he could be heard often saying “I have the best family!” Frank lived a long and happy life. He spent many happy years with his wife Carol. They traveled and lived life to its fullest.
Frank had many accomplishments. He graduated from St. John Neuman high school and was so proud of graduating from Villanova University in 1962, but nothing made him prouder than his children and grandchildren. He was a generous man and very active in the South Philadelphia community participating in important causes including memberships in the Lion’s Club and Knights of Columbus.
He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation Friday 12:30-2:00 PM at St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church, 176 Stagecoach Road, Washington Twp. Funeral Mass 2:00 PM.
