Estella “Stella” Jones was born to late Juan Arellano and Julia Eva Arellano Carballero on February 28, 1938 in Turbaco, Colombia. She spread her wings ascending to heaven on Wednesday May 12, 2021 at her daughter’s residence in Sicklerville, New Jersey.

Estella affectionately known as Stella was born in Turbaco, Colombia on a sugar cane farm and lived there with her thirteen brothers and sisters until age eleven when the family moved to Cartagena, Colombia. Stella attended catholic school until matriculation at age seventeen when she then enrolled in hair and beauty school and worked in the field for twelve years. It was at this job she met the love of her life Donald Jones. While stationed in Cartagena aboard the S.S Hope as a Merchant Marine for ten months Donald had a friend whose wife would get her hair done by Stella and would later introduce the two.

After dating for six months, Stella followed Donald to the United States in 1967 and would marry on January 24, 1968: of that, union came Harriet, John (Tracy), and stepdaughter Donna Lee Dixon. Stella was the model homemaker until Donald’s retirement after the family moved back to Pennsauken, New Jersey. Entering the workforce again until her retirement Stella worked as a full time employee of the Pennsauken Board of Education.

She was a god-fearing woman and a devote Catholic until her last day. She enjoyed traveling back and forth to Colombia to visit family and friends, but she most enjoyed being a grandmother to her grandchildren. She cherished every moment with her late husband whether it be dancing, attending casinos in Atlantic City, or watching their TV shows in her infamous recliner chair. She was the ultimate host for all of the family’s BBQs and holiday gatherings. You could always find Stella with her hair done, nails painted, and a beautiful smile. She was and will always be the epitome of the word grace.

She leaves to cherish her memory: Late Husband of 43 years (Donald L. Jones), Two Children: Harriet, John Sr. (Tracy), Stepdaughter: Donna Lee, Grandchildren: Marissa, John Jr., Brianna, Lauren (Scott), Joseph (Brooke), Sakinah, Stephen, De’Aja, Great Grandchildren: Rebecca, Amelia Stella-Pearl,  Tamika, Steve Jr., Serenity, Saige, Sedeque, Elise, Kali, 10 Brothers & Sisters: Catalina (Deceased), Isabel, Mireya, Cecelia, Tarcilia, Julia Eva (Manuel), Gil (Ena), Ramiro (Noris), Luis (Fabiola), Juan (Rosaura), Close Friends: Marianna, Magali, Bibi, and a host of god-children, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing Sunday 9:00-11:00 AM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Funeral service 11:00 AM. Interment at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be private.
