Elvin G. “Chub” Davis
On September 16, 2024, of Monroeville. Age 88. Beloved husband of the late Joan (nee Rassmann). Devoted father of Linda Stutzenburg (David). Dear brother of Jean Dwyer.
Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing Friday 9:30 – 11:00 am at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. Funeral Service 11:00 am. Interment Hillcrest Memorial Park, Washington Twp.
Elvin’s hobbies included gardening, camping, biking, horseback riding and setting up his model train set for Christmas time. He enjoyed watching, western movies and TV shows such as Bonanza, Laramie, Gunsmoke, Andy Griffith, Mash, Munsters, All in the Family, Emergency, Adam-12. He liked watching murder mysteries including Columbo, Murder She Wrote, and Quincy. Also, cartoons like Bugs Bunny, Taz, Ant & the Aardvark, and Pink Panther. He also enjoyed watching game shows such as Jeopardy, Family Feud, Card Shark, Match Game, and the Price is Right. He was also fond of watching football especially the Eagles and the Cowboys. He was also keen on reading Popular Mechanics Magazine and Consumer Reports.
Elvin’s favorite foods were anything cooked by Mom. If Mom was doing the cooking, Dad was doing the eating. Otherwise, he liked popcorn, potato chips, and ice cream. He especially liked going out to eat and when he did, he ordered steak. He also liked pies, cakes and cookies, especially if they were baked by Mom.
Dad always found great delight in singing me to sleep when I was a little girl… “The green pussycat with the long whiskers, he sneaks around at night to make sure everything is alright. The green pussycat with the long, long whiskers.”
He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
In honor of Elvin’s life, in lieu of flowers or other acts of sympathy, his family would encourage any donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
