Elizabeth Swanson (nee Foy) On October 13, 2015 of Cherry Hill. Age 72. Beloved wife of Gary. Devoted mother of Lisa D’Amico, Mark (Dana), Sarah Norton (James) and the late Garrett P. Swanson. Loving grandmother Troy, Eric, Tucker, Madison, Beach, Lila and Jimmy. Dear sister of James, Harry and Peter Foy.
My mother, Elizabeth Swanson, left this world 10/13/15 to join my brother in heaven. She was and will always be a fantastic mother that put her family above all else. Her only fault was loving too much and going out of her way to make life easier for others. Born and raised in Philadelphia she loved the city as a young woman and adored her brother’s- Jim, Harry, and Pete. She always spoke warmly of them and about the closeness she shared with my uncles. She met my father, Gary Swanson, at Hertz where they both worked and married in 1973. I came shortly after in 1974 and my brother Garrett followed in 1975. My mother enjoyed painting with oils and water colors, some may have called her eccentric as she has a personality unto herself, but it was her direct viewpoint and passion for life that offered a warmness to anyone she encountered. Little things that I would like to share-
• Her favorite color was blue
• Her favorite ice cream rum raisin
• She loved her children unconditionally- no matter what- she would always defend us, even if we were wrong.
• She was the best Mom-Mom to my children. She would color and draw with them for hours. She loved them deeply, and they loved her right back.
• She had more patience then anyone I have ever met-and would fore go her own needs to make other’s happy.
• She had a fantastic group of friends who always showed her love and support.
• She had a brilliant love affair with my father- very few got to see the special bond they shared over the past 40 years.
• She was my mom, and I will miss her every day for the rest of my life. Until we meet again, I know she will watch out for me and my family. I am thankful she is reunited with my brother and at peace.
