Eleanor M Beliveau (née Doherty) 1925-2025
Eleanor “Ele” Beliveau, 99, of South Carolina, died of natural causes on December 13, 2025.
She was born on Christmas Day in Brockton, Massachusetts, in 1925, to parents George Fredrick and Beatrice Lillian Doherty. Eleanor was a graduate of Brockton High School, class of 1944, and went on to become a telephone operator before marrying and raising children. In her younger years, she loved horseback riding and roller skating and remained active throughout her life.
Ele loved life. She enjoyed being surrounded by her family, meeting new people, and was always happy “if the wheels were rolling”. She loved learning new things: baking and decorating cakes, upholstering furniture, making ‘hooked’ rugs, painting ceramics, and sewing were all hobbies. She was a faithful NY Rangers hockey fan but enjoyed watching any hockey game on TV. An avid reader, often saying she read a book a day; she also loved to write cards and letters to friends and family. She was a devoted Catholic, attending church, and BINGO, weekly at St. Frances Cabrini Parish in Piscataway, NJ. She relocated to Washington Township, NJ in 2008 and continued to enjoy these interests and make new friends.
Married in 1953, she became a devoted mother, always encouraging her children to pursue our goals and dreams, whether it was sports, learning to play the guitar, getting a paper route or a part-time job, starting a career, going to college, joining the military, or writing a book.
Once retirement began, she and Dad traveled across the US by car, stopping along the way and connecting with people they knew.
Ele is preceded in death by her husband, Wilfrid Armand Beliveau, her siblings, Beatrice (Eileen), George (Buddy), Robert, Gerald, Barbara, and Claire (Kathy).
She is survived by her sister Grace Orcutt (Roger), as well as her children, Denise Sherman (the late Roger), Michele Fletcher (Tom), Paul Beliveau (Kathy), Elaine Lewis (the late Kevin), Donald Beliveau (Peggy), and Daniel Beliveau (Matthew Dell), her grandsons, Christopher Lewis (Jennifer) and Matthew Lewis, Nicholas Beliveau (Susan) and Christopher Beliveau (Emily), and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are welcome to attend her Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, December 22nd 10:00 AM at St. Frances Cabrini Church, 208 Bound Brook Ave., Piscataway, NJ. Entombment at Holy Redeemer Cemetery, South Plainfield.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in memory of her to The American Diabetes Association, The American Heart Association, the Salvation Army or another charity of your choice.
