Edward W. Perna
On February 6, 2024, of Glassboro. Age 85. Beloved husband of Joyce (nee Jones). Devoted father of June King and Judy Troilo (Dominic). Loving grandfather of Eric, Samantha, Kelly, and Jessica. Dear brother of Anna Harrington Perna, Ann Donovan Ortiz, Bill Donovan and the late Barbara Donavan. Loving uncle of Jim and Gina Harrington, Michael, Sean, and Eddie Harrington. Loved by many great-nieces and nephews.
Edward was born and raised in Philadelphia by his father. He lived a simple life and served in the Army during the years of 1956 to 1963. After his military duty, Edward had a long and successful career working as a Longshoreman at the Philadelphia waterfront until his retirement in the early 2000s. During a brief stint in the 1980s, he was also owner of Harper’s – a local saloon in South Philadelphia. Edward was a resident of Gloucester County for more than 30 years and spent his summers at the Jersey Shore from the 1980s all the way to the summer of 2023. He loved being with his grandchildren and nephews, was an avid gardener and enjoyed watching and reading about Philly Sports with his signature Philadelphia Daily News and Wawa coffee. He was the ultimate husband and caretaker of his loving wife. In short, Edward lived life with grace and was the embodiment of kindness. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing Thursday, February 22nd, 9:30-11:00 AM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. Funeral service 11:00 AM Interment, Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown.
