Edward A. Watson On March 8, 2021, of West Deptford. Age 80. Loving father of Anne Martinez (Alex). Devoted grandfather Rafael Perez, Jonathon Perez, Jaylyn Martinez, Cheyenne Martinez, Savannah Martinez, Jasmine Perez and Violet Martinez. Dear brother of Wallis Watson. Well brother, we have had a great life together, kids living in Palos Heights..playing in the creek, catching crayfish...playing army in the fields and woods by building fox holes... the times we spent with Dad in Canada canoeing and fishing in the boundary waters for weeks at a time..all the time we spent with the boy scouts and the rifle club...this made us the men we became. And, remember, all the great times we spent in Mexico as adults... We each went a different way but were both proud of what we did. I was always proud of who you became including your service to our Country and always loved you... I will miss you brother, but see you again someday. Love, Your only Brother.

So sorry for your loss, Anne. Your dad (who will forever for known as Mr. Watson) was a second dad to me when we were growing up. I remember so many occasions being at your house and you and your dad getting into tickle fights. I also remember his love of his garden out back. He also taught us to drive in the Exxon parking lot which was so much fun. His laughter was contagious and boy did he know how to laugh! He had a love for life and so much love for you. He will me missed.

Ed was my beloved first cousin. We’ve lost several cousins this past year, and I will miss them all. It’s been a year of grief. Ed met me in Nashville one time when I was there on business, and he drove me to the lodge at Lake Barkley in Kentucky where I hold many precious family memories. It was wonderful to do that trip with someone I trusted so much. You will live on, Ed, in our hearts and memories.

Your Dad and my first cousin was one of the most generous and caring members of our extended Watson family. Please know how much both Scott and I share in the grief of his loss. I am sorry that I cannot be at the funeral, but I will be upholding you and Alex in prayer. We have lost a wonderful committed family member here on earth, but heaven has gained a compassionate new resident. Words, however, cannot fully express my feelings at knowing he will not be at any more annual Watson Family Reunions, although I am confident he will be there in spirit...always.

I will miss all the talks on the phone....he loved to talk politics.
And how can I ever forget him not just taking me to the Watson Reunion few years ago, but also sending me a $3000 check before hand so I could LOOK like I was paying for everything myself, and not be embarrassed!!!
No one can ever fulfill Ed's shoes....they just don't make men like him anymore!
