Dr. BCI Okpokwasili for DOBANA & DOBANA Tristate left a message on May 1, 2021:
A brief obituary to Mrs. Edith Dim, wife of Chief Green Dim (Ezeomanukoaku of Uga), DMGS Endowment Fund Founder and Financial Director, second DOBAww Vice President, President DOBANA 2015-2016, winner of the 2017 Chief Chike Okonyia award. On behalf of the President of DOBANA (DMGS Old Boys Association of North America)– Mr. Ndubisi Oguejiofor, and all members of the DMGS Old Boys Association of North America and on behalf of DOBANA Tri-State (New York, New Jersey & Connecticut Branch), of which both Green and Edith are members, I come to give our deepest and most sincere condolences to the family of Green and Edith Dim. Edith, with a handful of other DMGS wives formed an arm of the DMGS Old Boys Association which has earned its special attraction and permanent place in DMGS Old Boys North America’s heart and existence. Edith’s death has brought much sorrow and grief to all around her- her family, her friends, DOBANA and many others who had the special privilege of sharing in her short, but most pleasant sojourn here on God’s earth. We will never forget her. We will never forget her pleasant smiles, her constant willingness to help, to lend a hand and to serve. Some of us would have liked to ask our kind God, why, why at such a tender age, why O God do you leave us so hapless. But to ask such questions of the owner for taking His daughter, is to be presumptuous of the wisdom of creation- life and death. It would, I think be more proper to thank our kind God for giving us such pleasant gift and the privilege of associating and knowing this Angel of His creation. We thank you God, for giving us Edith for 61 years. We know that Green Dim (EzeOmenukoaku) did what a true Dengramite would do under the circumstances. He gave it his all. In the last year and half, Ezeomenukoaku had bathed, his precious wife, cooked for her and tried to feed her when she was able to eat. He gave medications at times every 2 to 4 hours round the clock. Anybody who has worked closely with this guy can understand how dedicated and how meticulous he was in following doctors’ orders. Only he knew very closely and well, what was quickly slipping through his fingers. His dear wife’s life was under a siege. He reconfigured his whole house to enable movement unencumbered for all. But it was a losing battle. The good Lord had commanded, and we mortals had to obey. What level of condolence do you give to a husband who lost such a jewel of a human being? How do you console a mortal, even a DMGS fanatic, who has seen his life turned upside down. How do you ask your friend to take heart, to stop crying, to sense the emptiness in his big house, the emptiness in his life? We can only plead for our kind God to please come down and save us. Now how does a man look his two daughters and his son in the face, and tell them that their 61 year old mother has just died? How does DMGS console Edith’s children. How do we reassure Vivian, Jacquiline and Robert that things will be alright. O God, where do we start this story. We must thank these brave children for being there for their father when he was getting worn down. They gave their best to help their parents when they needed them most. But the good Lord had ordained. It was time, and none of us could do anything about it. To Ezeomenukoaku, Vivian, Jacqui and Robert, DMGS bids you stay strong. We pray the good Lord to give your wife and mother Eternal Rest in His Kingdom. We pray Him to watch over you. As the famous prayer goes: “The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord lift the light of His Countenance upon you, and may He console and protect you now and forever”. NDONU! Professor BCI Okpokwasili, D.Eng’g Sc. President DOBANA Tristate For DOBANA and DOBANA TRISTATE

Our Dear Edith, We write to wish you a safe journey on your way back to your maker. We are sure that our monumental loss here on God’s Earth is a joyous occasion in His Kingdom. We have no doubt, our dear Edith that you are going to a better place. We are sorry we did not know you would not be coming home to us when I spoke to you in the hospital. You brought a ray of Sunshine in our lives. We will miss your smiles, your counsel and the attentiveness you injected in everything you did. We agreed to go to Nigeria with our children and help them travel through our villages, to consolidate their motivation to visit our homeland. Little did we anticipate you were not going to fulfil that wish due to no fault of yours. Edith, we are so glad we had the honor to know and love you. You and your family will always have a special place in our hearts, and we will continue to be there for your husband Green and your children Vivian, Jacqueline and Robert. May God grant your family the fortitude and the comfort to bear your loss. May He grant them the Grace to always know that He is going to guide them through. “Je Nkeoma, Nnem” Your Friend Ada Eunice Okpokwasili (Amalunweze n’Ukpo) With Her husband (Dr, Bertram C. I. What devastating news it was when we heard of your passing.! We didn't know you were ill so it came like a bolt out of the blue. You were such a kind and generous lady. We cannot forget our first and only meeting with you. After the DOBANA 2016 convention which my wife and I attended, you and your (banker) daughter took me and my wife Chika on a tour around Toronto, while your husband and other DOBANA officers attended to DMGS affairs.. First, we rode in your car; then we went by train, visiting many places of interest and learning about them, including the famous covered outdoor market where various wares were on display and on sale. We sampled some of these freely, before buying them. The bottles of authentic Canada maple syrup we brought back with us lasted for some time, with our grandchildren enthusing about them whenever we served them pancakes. What a loss! Take heart, Omenukoaku and family, and may memories of Edith's life console you in this irreparable loss. May her soul rest in peace. Emmanuel Udezue, MD, UK Lugard House Prefect 1963

The loss of Lolo Edith Dim has left a huge vacuum in the hearts of the Ogbuehi family members. To start with, our son OC has lost the best God mother in the world who never forgot to celebrate every birthday with her now 18 year old God son who’s about to go to college. The pain of this loss will be with us for a long time, but we know that we’ve been endowed with a long list of positive memories she has left us. During her short time in this world, our family will forever remember her remarkable generosity and kindness. May her most gentle soul rest in perfect peace in Jesus Name, Amen.

My namesake your kind soul impacted not only family but also anybody who was blessed to know you. Twenty-two years ago, December 1999 precisely, the G.E ROJAVIV SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION came into existence out of the benevolence of Chief Green Dim ( Omenuko aku na Uga ) , and late Lolo Edith Dim and three beloved children ; Vivian , Jacqueline and Robert. The foundation so far offered scholarship to a total of 74 Uga indigenes from the four villages in Uga through College and some through the University education. These individuals are currently doing great in different fields of life. Madam Edith, is a mother to all . A strong back bone to the foundation, supporting her husband to ensure that we are given all necessary support, guidance that will help our potentials blossom and flourish. Despite the distance, she always tries to connect to us all on individual basis. She reach out to us to asks questions about our progress, quest , plans and offer suggestions that will be beneficial to us . She is very caring, and goes the extra mile to take care of anyone visiting her home. Even when one in a hurry, you will hear soft voice saying "wait and eat before you go". The news of your death left us with deep sorrow than words can convey. However, as Christian we hope on the resurrection . We believe you are with the Cherubs serving in the Lord's kingdom like you did on earth. Finally , Our dear Chief Omenukoaku, Vivian, Jacqueline and Robert, Please accept our heartfelt condolences. Chief Vincent Ofolebe left a message on April 27, 2021:
TRIBUTE TO MY MOST CHRISHED SISTER EDITH Where do I start from and where do I end. You are gone! We knew this day was coming, yet the reality of it is devastating. The journey from the time you were hospitalized until your concluding breath, has been one of shredded emotions and continues pains. In the early morning of Saturday 17th April, 2021 my in-law Chief Green Dim (Omenukoaku) called my wife to announce that you had passed on. Unfortunately, his attempts to hide the information did not work because I was with my wife at that material time. The biggest cloud of darkness over-shadowed me, the cloud was overtaken by divine light of God to avert what would have been a double tragedy. Edith, your demise is too unbearable and the vacuum created in Ofolebe’s family will be difficult to fill. Your children, Vivian, Jackie and Boby you lovingly, peacefully and Godly brought up cannot believe you are gone. Your brothers and sisters in Nigeria have not believed you are gone. My hardest difficulty now is to accept the fact that I and my wife Scholarstica will not be in America to attend your funeral due to Covid-19 restrictions. The pains become more excruciating when I remember your hospitality and all the efforts to please us any time we were in U.S and various ways you had touched the lives of over 50 members of Ofolebe’s family. I can safely testify your husband and children’s abiding efforts towards offering the best chance at recovery. Edith you were a role model among women folks. You were humble, kind, generous and complete mother. It is my hope that the creator of life will grant the children the strength and resilience to accept your death with complete submission. My prayer and supplication to God is to grant the children, husband and members of Ofolebe’s family the fortitude, courage and determination to bear the irreparable loss and most importantly, the strength to stand up to challenges posed by your death. Adieu my most cherished sister. CHIEF VINCENT OFOLEBE

We saw last in November 2019 when I came visiting we prayed together believing God for a miracle. As days turned into week and months your health worsened. The last time I heard your voice was 04/11/2021 you said to me “CHINEKE GA EME EBERE “ even at your lowest moments you held unto God little did I know it was the last I’ll hear from you. I don’t think I ever thanked my aunt for everything she’s done for me. I want to say a big thank you for loving my family Unconditionally thank you for being selfless. I am a full fledged professor today partly because of people like her and her husband. ?‍♂️ On my way to Harvard University, Boston in 2017 to deliver two academic papers, I stopped over in her house in New Jersey. ? She not only welcomed me with open arms but gave me a Nigerian delicacy "Ofe Onugbu" millions of miles away from home!!! ? I got energised, travelled 4 more hours to Harvard and delivered two of my strongest academic papers that have received rave reviews internationally and has given me the needed visibility in Google Scholar. ?Those papers have also been published in International Journals and well embedded in library of Congress after a thorough process of peer review. ? Ex Biafran soldier with scares of war still in his fingers. ✳️ A man who ate "ukwa" as provisions in DMGS but has become successful in life by dint of hard work. ✳️ The man who opened the floodgate of Dengramites in diaspora registering with the Mother Branch. ? Nwada Edith (Quality Lady). The first time I heard your last name I was like wow, are you related to so and so and you said yes and we got talking. I remember the meeting days we use to set up the chairs n tables as well as cleaning up after the meeting. How we used to praise and laugh and tease one another before meeting starts. You never missed a meeting until you became ill. You were dedicated to Umuada. You even volunteered your husband services to us. You were a gem. You will be missed. May your gentle soul RIP amen. Farewell. Ngalakwesiri (VP - Umuadaigbo South Jersey chapter)

Dear Edith, DOBANA conventions and our vists to Philadelphia will never be complete without you - our friend and "near neighbour" in New Jersey - and your hospitality. We do not know how to heal your pain, and we pray that your heart and soul will find peace and comfort in God during this difficult time of grief. May her soul rest in Perfect Peace. Amen!!! Dear Edith, we remember two significant times of fellowship with you in 2019. One at Chioma and Emiliano's wedding where we took these fun photos, and the other when you and Eze Omenukoaku visited us with steaming hot Ukwa which you had prepared in various traditional forms. These capture the kind of fellowship our families enjoyed whenever we got to spend time together. Ours has been a long and enduring friendship which goes as far back as 1993 when we asked if you could serve as godparents to our daughter, Chineze. The God you served knows best and has shown us, again, that He has a special pathway for each one of us. There are many things we will never be able to understand on this side of eternity, but precious in the eyes of God is the death of one of His saints. As the Bible says, our lives are like a mist and you used your time and talents wisely. You have left behind your legacy in the three beautiful children you raised, your stalwart husband and family and friends whose lives you impacted. You have run your race and I believe God has welcomed you with "Well done, good and faithful servant!" May your gentle soul rest in peace! - Osita and Chinwe Okpalaoka

Your departure is devastating. Nothing prepared me for this. Your gentle calming voice, glowing eyes, smiles and gentle touch will be missed. Our amusing sister-women talk is shut down. You were a real gift to mankind and will be cherished. May the Lord grant you eternal rest and His perpetual light shine on you. Rest In Peace.

Chief Green Dim Eze Omenukoaku N’Uga Executive Director of DMGS Endowment Fund We, alumni of DMGS who are also members of the DMGS Endowment Club, committed to the principle of financing DMGS in perpetuity, have just received the devastatingly sad news of the transition of your amiable wife and life-partner, Lolo Edith Dim. She was your reliable support and consort, in tough times and in easy interludes. She was a gracious presence at all our gatherings. She was an untiring fighter for the affairs of DMGS, having adopted her husband’s vocation as hers. She attended all DMGS alumni affairs, spreading cheer and kindness, leading our wives in learning new dance steps, forging new alliances for the overall betterment of DMGS, and above all else, ensuring we were all fed and feisty whilst attending our biennial conventions across the United States and Canada. She had become, over the years, also an honorary alumnus of DMGS and an “under-chief fundraiser” for the coffers of DEF. We are in deep shock at this sad and unexpected news. Please accept our sincere condolences and our deepest sympathies, as we pray that the Almighty God, in His wisdom, send you & yours the promised “Comforter” in this time of deep pain. She has been called to His higher glory, and somewhere in Paradise, she is undoubtedly teaching the Elect all the new dance steps she perfected here on Earth, in the service of Grammar School. May her immortal soul Rest In Peace, perfect peace, for now and forevermore. May all Dengramites, far and near, bow their heads in silence, in memory of the passing of an elegant lady & exceptional wife. Prosper Igboeli, MD Chairman, DEF/DEC. [19/04, 09:51] Okey Chine: May her gentle soul rest in perpetual peace in the bossom of Almighty God! May God grant Chief Dim & family the fortitude & strength to cope with this obviously huge loss! [19/04, 13:23] Ekene Efobi *: May Mrs Dim's soul rest in perfect peace, Amen..?????? [19/04, 13:25] Vincent Ikenna Azie: May her gentle soul rest in peace. [19/04, 14:47] Dr Emeka Moneke: May her soul rest in perfect peace. My condolences to Eze Omenukoaku N’Uga for this irreplaceable loss. [19/04, 17:23] Chi Ojji: Ezeomenukoaku Green Dim, My wife and I are shocked at the news of the call to glory of Lolo Edith. Over the years we have come to know her well - 1st as your wife, then as the leader of the DOBANA women (a group my wife has become inducted) and ultimately as a friend in her own right. Our visits to Philadelphia and numerous DOBANA conventions are never complete without a visit to yours - our friends and "near neighbours" in New Jersey - and the hospitality of Edith. The last convention in 2018 in NJ offered us even more shared time than usual and a chance to meet your lovely daughters who have taken well to the excellent deportment of their mother. Visiting America will not be the same again. Edith shared a standing joke with my wife that they have embraced their 2nd wife status as both you and I are married to the work of DMGS. It is a demonstration of her humility and self-effacing manner as their sacrifice to DMGS is unquantifiable with Edith clearly the leader in the field. She was ever so helpful in making my wife at home in the DOBANA women's group and showing her the ropes of the Egedege dance of which Edith is an undisputed past master. We are at a loss on how to console you on this tragic loss. Words may fail us but we are hopeful in prayers that you will be granted the fortitude to bear it and the grace to remember her with fondness and joy. May the soul of Lolo Edith Dim rest in peace. Chijioke Ojji Lugard House, 1979 [19/04, 19:18] Mike Chiwuzie: Senior Dim please accept my heartfelt condolences and may God Almighty console you and family for your loss . May her soul find eternal rest in the lord. [20/04, 01:08] Akaolisa Okonkwo: My condolences Chief Dim,may her soul rest in perfect peace. Very sad. [20/04, 06:18] Chuba Nwoka: May her soul rest in peace, my condolences to the Dim's family [20/04, 07:20] Cosmas Mgbojikwe Anazodo: May her soul RIP. My condolences to Chief Dim and family. [20/04, 07:23] Pastor Chuka Nnabude: May her soul rest in peace ?? [20/04, 07:34] Dr. Affan Iqbal: May her soul rest in peace .. may God give the family the strength to bare this grave loss
