Dolores F. “Dee” D’Orazio (nee Amato), on March 27, 2021, of Washington Twp. Age 88. Beloved wife of the late Richard. Devoted mother of Richard D’Orazio (April), Debra Mandos (Robert), Mark D’Orazio (the late Vernetta), Donna Valentine (Jerry) and the late Denise D’Orazio. Loving grandmother of Marisa Hardy, Robert Mandos, Julia Stuhltrager, Jasmine D’Orazio and Jordin D’Orazio. Proud great-grandmother of Sloane Hardy, Lily Mandos and Grant Stuhltrager. Dear sister of Carol Klein, Marie Serubo and Kathleen Shepard.
Born Dolores Frances Amato to Marie and Carmen Amato on April 18, 1932, the oldest of 4 sisters. Dee was a resident of South Philadelphia. She attended Hallahan High School for Girls. Dee grew up poor and helped out how she could. Never complaining, she moved on to business school and a job at Fantes Kitchen Store on 9th Street in the Italian Market. That is where she met the love of her life, Richard. They married and proceeded to have a family of 5 children. Moving from South Philadelphia to Turnersville, NJ in 1967. Dee moved on to be one of the founding members of St. Charles Borromeo Church, where she was devoted to for 50 years. Always eager to be involved, she worked for the Washington Twp. Board of Education for many years and St. Charles Borromeo Church for 30 years. All the while, taking care of her family.
Dolores invoked a work ethic in all her children because of her upbringing, making her family her priority. Dee’s 7 fish Christmas Eve dinner was one of her favorite things in life. Prep would start the day after Thanksgiving with things having to be absolutely to Mom’s specs! Many years would see over 50 people attending. This was just one example of how Dee put family first – always!
Dee and Richard loved travelling and visited many places especially with close friends Barb and Tony Sang. The Cousins Club was also a great time. Most of all Dee was devoted to her family. Always putting everyone before herself. For the past couple years Dee has enjoyed the support, companionship, and the daily visitation and of her good friends and neighbors, and of course her family. The Matriarch of our family will be sorely missed. Rest peacefully with Dad, Denise and Vernetta.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Wednesday 10:15 am – 12:15 pm at St. Charles Borromeo RC Church, 176 Stagecoach Rd., Sicklerville, NJ 08081. Mass of Christian Burial 12:30 pm.
