Dalton J. O’Connor
28, of Washington Twp., passed away on October 11, 2023. Beloved son of Paul and Marie (nee McNamara) O’Connor. Dear brother of Amanda Brown (Ryan Leroy) and cherished nephew of Robert McNamara.
Dalton had many talents, but at his core was a hockey player and was most comfortable being on the ice. His love of hockey was sparked as a toddler watching the Phantom’s practice at Hollydell, where he began playing before the age of 5. He played youth travel hockey for the Hollydell Hurricanes, Philadelphia Little Flyers, and Team Comcast; and spent summers playing on Tournament teams, including the Boston Icemen. His hockey career allowed him to travel coast-coast and often into Canada, where one of his highlights was playing with the Hershey Jr. Bears in the Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament.
Dalton graduated from St. Augustine Preparatory school in 2013 and went on to play Junior Hockey in Portland Maine. He attended Rowan University and briefly played on the hockey team until concussions cut his career short.
He was a fitness and health enthusiast, constantly at the gym, and eventually realizing his dream of becoming a personal trainer.
Dalton loved kids and enjoyed being around his cousins and teaching young children how to skate and play hockey. He found a way to enjoy both as a volunteer for the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Foundation at 13, and later working for them while in college. He enjoyed writing and recording songs, and dancing. He also loved his dogs, Gypsy and Harley, who brought him immense joy walking in the woods or simply playing on the floor with them.
Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation Friday, November 3rd from 10:30 AM – 12:45 PM at SS. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, 362 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 12:45 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Dalton’s memory to CTE at www.concussionfoundation.org or the Ed Snider Youth Hockey Organization at www.sniderhockey.org.
