It is with love and gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Charles H. Mitchell (Mitch), who passed away at the age of 87.
Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA., Mitch carried with him the values of hard work and dedication throughout his life. It was in South West, Philadelphia that he met and married his first wife, Kathleen Mitchell, with whom he shared 33 years of marriage. Together they moved to New Jersey, where they built a loving home and raised their five children.
A hardworking provider, Mitch dedicated 30 years of service as a Lineman with the Philadelphia Electric Company before retiring. Never one to shy away from hard work, he also owned and operated a successful boat hauling company for many years, combining his entrepreneurial spirit with one of his greatest passions.
The water was where Mitch felt most at home. An avid boater throughout his life, he found joy, peace, and adventure on the open water, creating countless memories with family and friends. Later in life, he discovered another passion – the game of golf. After relocating to Florida, he fulfilled a dream by purchasing a home on a golf course, where he spent many happy days enjoying the game. The friendships he formed there became deeply meaningful, and his golfing companions quickly became an extension of his family.
Mitch married his second wife, Mary Doyle in 1993. They shared 14 years together until her passing. Their marriage brought him additional companionship, happiness and cherished memories that remained close to his heart.
Above all, Mitch will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather, friend, and neighbor. He was known for his strong work ethic, his love of the water and the golf course, and his ability to make lasting friendships wherever life took him.
Mitch’s life will be honored and remembered privately by his family.
