We often reflect on the incredible woman our mother was, a pillar of strength and love who shaped us profoundly. Her early life, marked by immense challenges, forged the resilient spirit we all admired.
Born into the harsh realities of the Great Depression, she knew hardship from a young age, raised solely by a mother whose fortitude surely mirrored her own. Her childhood was further complicated by a brave battle with rheumatic fever, a significant illness that she navigated with remarkable strength, instilling in her an early understanding of perseverance and the preciousness of health.
Despite these early struggles, life had a beautiful plan for her. One serendipitous day, on a bustling trolley, she met the man who would become the love of her life, our father, Walter. Their connection was instant, a true romantic tale from a bygone era. Together, they built a family, bringing into the world three daughters: Catherine, Marie), and Helen. We were, without a doubt, the sun and moon of her universe, the sparkling constellations reflected in her beautiful green, hazel eyes.
Her devotion to us knew no bounds. There was absolutely nothing she wouldn’t undertake, no sacrifice too great, to ensure our well-being and happiness. She was our fiercest protector, our unwavering cheerleader, and our softest comfort.
More than anything, Mom instilled in us the invaluable lessons of unconditional love and the paramount importance of family. She taught us to cherish one another, to stand together, and to understand that our bonds are the most precious inheritance. This message was her constant refrain, a guiding star she wished for us to carry always in our hearts.
Loving daughters
