Catherine “Kate” A. Britton (nee Witt) on June 14, 2016 of Washington Township. Age 75. Loving mother of Catherine Beitel (Bruce), William (fiancée Theresa), Glenn and David (Teresa). Doting grandmother to David, Michael, Timothy, Jack, Matthew, Will, Jessi Rae, Glenn, Alycia, Zachary, Brianna, David Anthony and Emily Catherine.
Kate lived life to the fullest! She was a world traveler who loved both the beautiful scenery and history of every place that she visited. She adored her friends and travel companions and was always looking forward to her next adventure whether it took her to China, Africa or Antarctica!
She pursued a career in teaching late in life and taught middle school in the Washington Township Public Schools for over 25 years at the old Middle School, Chestnut Ridge and Bunker Hill. During her tenure, Kate was also heavily involved in the teacher’s union and was WTEA President throughout the early/mid-1990s. She taught and mentored thousands of students and hundreds of teachers! Following her retirement she continued her advocacy as a Regional Consultant for NJEA.
Kate’s deepest love was for her family – her children and grandchildren. She passed on her love of the shore, great food (especially seafood) and well-earned leisure. She was the most caring and loving mother and grandmother any family could have wished for. She lived a splendid life and her legacy will carry on for years and generations.
Kate is now at peace with no regrets.
Family and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Tuesday, June 21st from 6:00-8:00pm followed by a memorial service at 8:00pm at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road in Washington Township.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Catherine’s memory may be made to Samaritan Healthcare & Hospice, 5 Eves Drive, Suite 33 in Marlton, NJ 08053, https://www.samaritannj.org/donate.
