On July 30, 2024, Anthony “Tony” P. Porcellini, Sr. of Laurel Springs, NJ, passed away peacefully in his home at the age of 91. He was a beloved husband to Theresa L. (née Mariani) and a devoted father to Theresa Rose and Anthony P. Porcellini, Jr. (Julie). Tony was a proud grandfather to Matthew (Natali), Maia (Chris), Alexandria (Justin), Dominique, Anthony III, & Juliette and adoring great-grandfather to Lilah. Brother to Grace Cucchi, he was dearly loved by his in-laws Anita, Amy, and Bill, nieces and nephews, and his cherished live-in aid, Natalie.
Tony was a 1950 graduate of Southeast Catholic High School and a 1954 graduate of Saint Joseph’s College with a BS in Business Administration. He also completed the ROTC program as a Lieutenant and served in the United States Air Force for 23 years before being honorably discharged in 1977 after having received the rank of Major. Throughout his military career, Tony received several commendation medals and awards.
He was a life-long member of the Knights of Columbus, achieving the fourth degree and a former Navigator of Bishop Shade Assembly. He was also a member of the Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) and former President of the South Jersey chapter as well as a member of Disabled American Veterans and American Legion Post 281.
In addition, Tony shared his passion for sports by coaching football, baseball, and basketball founding the CYO chapter at Holy Spirit Parish in Philadelphia. Later, he became a member of the Glen Oaks Men’s Baseball Team.
Tony and Theresa enjoyed travel exploring bucket list destinations including Hawaii and Italy along with creating lasting memories at their cherished summer home in Sea Isle City, NJ.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, August 3rd from 10:15 AM to 11:45 AM at Our Lady of Hope Parish located at 701 Little Gloucester Road, Gloucester Township. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:00 PM with interment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Chews Landing.
To honor Tony’s life, in lieu of flowers or other gestures of sympathy, his family requests donations be made to Vitality Hospice and Palliative Care, 460 Veterans Drive, Suite C, Burlington, NJ 08016.
