Ronald W. Deichert, Sr.

On June 30, 2025, of Washington Twp.  Age 80.  Beloved husband of Genevieve (nee Moderno).  Devoted father of Ronald W. Deichert, Jr. (Michele), Laura Deichert, Nikki Sonya Koppenhafer (Mark), and Joann Reavy (Neil).  Loving grandfather of Jordan, Farrah, Nevaeh, Mark Joseph, Elana, and Ashton.  Cherished uncle of Barbie and Bobby.  Dear brother of the late Robert.  Caring son of the late Robert and Naomi (nee Stafford) Deichert.  Also survived by his faithful canine companion Buster.

Ron was the kind of man who filled a room not just with his infectious laugh but with his presence, warmth, and stories. He lived a life rich in love, joy, and curiosity—a life deeply rooted in family, hard work, and adventure.

He was a loving and devoted husband. His marriage was built on respect, laughter, shared adventures, and unwavering support. He had a special way of showing his love. He was also a deeply devoted father—wise, kind, and endlessly supportive. Ron didn’t just tell his children how to live a good life; he showed them through his actions.

A proud veteran and lifelong hobbyist, Ron was always the first to show up—whether it was to fix a leaky faucet, help with a project, or cheer on his grandchildren at their events. His devotion to his family knew no limits. He was not only a great provider but a teacher, showing through his actions the value of showing up, doing the work, and doing it his way. To his family, he passed down the virtues of determination, loyalty, and the satisfaction of a job well done.

Ron’s passions were as varied as the flannel shirts he proudly wore. He loved classic cars, trains, guitars, and the open road. He had a special affinity for animals, speaking to them with a gentleness and understanding that earned him the unofficial title of “animal whisperer.”

Ron brought magic to Halloween, fun to camping trips, and life to every dance floor. He enjoyed skiing down snowy slopes, boating, and collecting treasures of all kinds, each with a story he was always ready to share. A glass of good Scotch and a smile on his face, Ron could talk to anyone and often did. Conversations with him ran deep and wide and were full of amusement.

He loved his family fiercely, adored his dogs, and found joy in the simple, grounding things: a flannel shirt, a guitar riff, a project in the garage, or the proud smile of a grandchild. He was a good friend to many and left an imprint that will not fade.

Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing Monday 9:00 – 11:00 am at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp.  Mass of Christian Burial 12:00 pm at Infant Jesus Parish – St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church, 845 Third Street, Woodbury Heights.  Interment Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown.

In honor of Ronald’s life, in lieu of flowers or other acts of sympathy, his family would encourage any donations to the Celiac Disease Foundation.
