Robert G. Nagele, Sr. was born on May 10, 1928 and passed on January 11, 2016. Bob moved his family to Turnersville, NJ in 1967, and lived in Pine Hill for nearly thirty years. More recently, Bob lived with his daughter in Pittsgrove, NJ.
Bob grew up in and around the East Falls section of Philadelphia, and joined the armed forces in WWII serving in occupied Japan. At home, financially unable to attain his dream of becoming an architect, he followed in the footsteps of his forefathers and worked as a butcher in several supermarkets, including Baltimore Markets and Food Fair – Pantry Pride.
Bob was a dedicated husband and father who worked hard to provide for his family, which included the late Gladys I. (nee Billman), and four children, Dale K Nichols (Christopher), Robert G. (Kathleen), Cheryl Chambers (Charles) and the late Kurt A. (Caroline). He leaves behind 14 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Bob instilled the values of hard work and a strong work ethic into his children. He believed in the importance of education and the pursuit of career. It brought Bob great joy to watch his children and grandchildren pursue their education and successful careers.
Even when Alzheimer’s disease clouded his mind, his concern for his family and their well-being was undeniable! His love of children was evident in his playful manner and great smile, as he seemed to relive the playful side of the personality of his youth. He loved to spend time with his great-grandchildren during special events and holidays.
Bob enjoyed Phillies baseball, Eagles football, the Wildwood beach, and music and dancing. He was a creative and articulate craftsman, and believed that anything was possible when trying to solve a problem. In his later years, alongside his daughter, Bob developed a great passion volunteering his time to support local food banks and veteran’s groups though their church.
Bob was a strong, family man who was an example what it meant to be a husband, son, father, provider, and friend. He will be missed by family and friends, but it is comforting to know that he is now reunited with his wife, son, parents, sisters and brothers, and others that have gone before him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation Saturday 9:00 – 10:00 AM at the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2384 East Landis Ave, Vineland. Funeral Service 10:00 AM. Interment at Rosedale Memorial Park, Bensalem, PA.
