Robert Andrew Applegate, Jr.

On December 27, 2019, of Washington Township. Age 59. Beloved husband of Jacqueline (nee Humphry). Devoted father of Alexandra DiLorenzo (David), Meghan Kutchen (Timothy) and Robert A. Applegate III (Nicolette). Loving grandfather to Alessia and Beau. Dear brother of Donna Chojnowski, Debra Gitto, Andrew Applegate and Patrick Applegate. Loved by nieces and nephews. Robert grew up in Absecon. He attended Holy Spirit High School and graduated from Rutgers University in 1982 where he played pitcher as a Scarlet Knight. He worked as an Account Executive for Essex Brownell for 26 years. Robert lovingly devoted his time to his family and was a faithful friend to many. As an active member of his church, he was a man who lived to serve others. He led a life of integrity and joy to the very end. He was a man of tremendous character who will be greatly missed.

Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation Thursday 9:00 AM- 12:00 PM at the Pitman United Methodist Church, 758 N Broadway, Pitman. Funeral service, 12:00 PM. Interment, Wenonah Cemetery, Wenonah.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert’s memory may be made to True North Church, 721 Main Street, Sewell, NJ 08080.

Hello, I am a customer of Bob's for over 20 years and I just wanted to say that I will truly miss doing business with him. We often exchanged stories about our families and I always enjoyed his conversations. I am very sorry to hear about his passing. He was a really good person.

So sad to hear about Rob's passing... He was our account exec for many years and we always knew that Rob 'had our back'. Regardless of the issue Rob handled all professionally as if we were his only account. Rob was more than an account exec, he was our friend and we will miss him greatly... Renee and I are deeply saddened by Rob's passing. I first met Rob coaching baseball and I'd often see Rob jogging through our neighborhood and at Shoprite, where we'd chat and share our latest news. Rob was a sparkling presence and his faith showed in his actions and attitude. We pray that the Applegate family endures through this difficult time.

Jackie,Dianne and I were heartbroken to hear the news that Rob had passed. What a wonderful man and a good friend. Time moves so quickly. I can’t believe that so much time has passed since Bobby and Dan were at St. Augustine and we were spending Friday nights together. Rob’s light will always shine when we recall those days. I worked with Rob at Essex and there was not a nicer guy. I helped him with a project once and he sent me this little Christmas figurine that I have had on my desk for at least 10 years. I think of him every time I look at it. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. He was such a wonderful man. My condolences to his family.

I too worked at SX and retired in December 2017. ROB and I became good friends even though we didn’t see each other very often… Maybe only once a year or so at sales meetings. But the first time we met was at a meeting in California where we were assigned as roommates. It was an incredibly fun time and I got to know ROB quite well. Jackie and family , I only meant Rob a few times but always a joyous occasion, I think the first time was at Patrick’s and Nicole’s engagement party. Meeting her new family was just so lovely .
