Mira De Prophetis “Forte e Gentile” Born on October 5, 1927, Mira De Francesco – De Prophetis, in MONTORIO al VOMANO, provincia di TERAMO, Region of ABRUZZO, ITALIA. She represented the motto of this region: FORTE E GENTILE – a strength to endure the life ahead and a kindness to add to the journey.
She married “il torre di Castelli”: Angelo De Prophetis, also from ABRUZZO, ITALIA. A family comprised of 5 children, 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
An arduous working immigrant, she was employed by Paree Frocks, and Mi Deb Bridals for 25 years. She was supported and encouraged by ILGWU in her role as chairperson/shop steward. Her strenuous and detailed production as a seamstress provided thousands of wedding gowns for selective buyers.
As a matriarch of her family, she was truly loved by all whom she encountered. A traditional Italian cook, everyone enjoyed the pleasures of HER table. A kindness she shared from her heart.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Thursday 9:00-10:00 AM at Our Lady of Peace Parish 32 Carrol Ave., Williamstown. Interment private. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.egizifuneral.com. Arrangements are under the direction of the Egizi Funeral Home, Washington Twp.
