JT (John Thomas) Hayes of Turnersville, NJ passed away on February 27, 2019 at the age of 69.

JT was born in Bennington, VT on September 15, 1949. He graduated from Bennington Catholic High School and went on to serve in the United States Air Force. JT married his high school sweetheart, Gail King, on September 20, 1969; they were happily married for 49 years.

JT worked as an air traffic controller for 45 years. He was a history buff with particular interest in WWII, a New England Patriots fan, Boston Red Sox fan, Trekkie, Beatles fan, handyman, devoted husband, superb father and loving grandfather. He was a quiet and selfless man with a calm, soothing demeanor and a fantastic sense of humor. He was a great listener and he will be greatly missed by those lucky enough to have known him.

JT is survived by his wife, Gail Hayes of Turnersville, NJ; their children: Susan and her husband, Logan Henry, Erik and his wife Candace Hayes and Heather and her husband Chris Finn; grandchildren: Felicity, Colin, Caden, Everett, Killian, Genevieve and Kenna; his sister, Carole Hoffman and his brother, William Hayes; nieces and nephews: Matt, Mark, Sean, Jason, Erin, Chris, David and Jessica.

JT is preceded in death by his son, Andrew Hayes and mother, Elizabeth (Betty) Hayes.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family Thursday from 4:00 – 5:30 pm at The Church of the Holy Family, 226 Hurffville Rd. in Sewell, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial 5:30 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be sent in JT’s memory to the American Heart Association. Or by mail 1 Union Ave., #301, Robbinsville, NJ 08691.
