John W. Derolf
On September 26, 2025, of Mullica Hill. Age 85. Beloved husband of Angeline (nee Oliver). Devoted father of Jacqueline Sutton (Kent), Kenneth Derolf (Phyllis), and Holly Milstead (Marvin). Loving grandfather of Kenneth, Chelsea (Jay), Julie (Eric), Michael (Elizabeth), Ashley (Earl), Hailey (Kyle), Jack, and Isabelle. Proud great-grandfather of Lainey, Kylie, and Reese. Dear brother of the late Walter Derolf. Loved by nieces and nephews.
John “Jack” graduated from Elmer L. Meyers High School in Wilkes Barre, PA in 1958 and began his Coast Guard career until his retirement as a Senior Chief Petty Officer after 20 years in 1977. He served several tours of duty including Greenland, Vietnam and Europe and stationed on various ships from Gloucester, Cape May and Manasquan; accepting this time abroad so his family would not need to move from place to place. While in the service, he also attained HVAC certification to prepare for his post-retirement career.
In 1961, he married his childhood sweetheart, Angeline and celebrated 64 years in February. They had three children who he proudly recognized and provided support to him into his last days. They had 8 grandchildren who he loved dearly and enjoyed any time he spent with them. He loved telling them stories of his “antics” as a child and sending “words of advice.” It was not unusual for one of them to just call to chat with him on a daily basis.
He made sure he was always there for his children and grandchildren if they needed to be picked up from school, going fishing, grabbing something to eat or traveling to games to watch football, lacrosse, basketball, softball or dance recitals. He was proud of all of their accomplishments in academics, sports and ultimately their careers.
Prior to entering the service, he was recruited for baseball training camp as a catcher which he declined for the Coast Guard career. He was an avid sports fan of his children and grandchildren and especially the Eagles and Penn State; watching them even in his final days.
He was dedicated to his family and friends and truly leaves a legacy of his hard work ethic, sincerity, integrity and generosity. He was loved by all and will be deeply missed by everyone who he crossed paths and called him husband, dad or grandpop.
Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing Friday, October 10th 9:00 – 11:00 AM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Funeral service 11:00 AM. Interment Gloucester County Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown.
