John Luther Katinos
Of Mullica Hill, New Jersey, passed away surrounded by family on January 7, 2026. Born on July 24, 1953, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, John lived a life rooted in hard work, creativity, and deep connection to his community.
John is survived by his wife, Karen Katinos; his children, Alexandria (Kyle) and Eric (Meg); and his grandchildren, Ainsley, Rio, and Kit. He is also survived by his siblings Alex, Mary, George, and Magdeline. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luther John Katinos and Barbara George Kefalos.
John was first and foremost a farmer and was well known and deeply respected in the Mullica Hill community. He was the owner of Windy Top Nursery, where his hands-on approach, dedication to the land, and willingness to share his knowledge left a lasting impression. In addition to farming, John also worked for many years as an engineer at Pioneer Machine & Tool Company before retiring.
Outside of his work, John was an avid fisherman who found peace on the water and cherished summers spent with his family in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Music was another constant in his life. An accomplished bassist, John played in several bands over the years, including Crank, Saints in Hell, and Ragdoll. He also loved riding and working on his motorcycles and was personally responsible for each of his grandchildren acquiring a quad by the age of two.
John will be remembered for his steady presence, strong work ethic, and genuine care for others. He lived a full and grounded life, shaped by the land he worked, the music he played, and the time he shared with those closest to him.
