James F. Kenney,
On December 4, 2018, of Washington Twp., NJ, formerly of Philadelphia. Age 83. Loving husband for 61 years of Barbara Kenney (nee Corcoran). Dear father of James Kenney, Stephen Kenney (Deborah), Janet Brinkman (Raymond), and Christopher Kenney. Also survived by Maureen Kenney. Proud grandfather of Brendan, Nora, Colin, John, and Ashley Pizzo. Predeceased by his brother Robert Kenney. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Jim served in the US Navy during the Korean War aboard the aircraft carrier USS Oriskany. Jim was a member of the US Coast Guard Reserves, serving for 21 years and retiring as Chief Warrant Officer.
Jim was a proud member of the Philadelphia Fire Dept., retiring as a Battalion Chief in 1980. Jim then was employed at the Philadelphia Inquirer and Daily News as a Safety Manager retiring in 1994 followed by his time as Safety Manager at the DRPA.
Jim was a hard worker and always provided for his family, whom he cherished. Jim was a faithful friend and was most proud of his time in the PFD, where he made lifelong friends. Jim will be remembered by his sense of humor. In his memory, say a kind word to someone who may need it.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation Friday 6:00-9:00 pm at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Rd., Turnersville, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday 11:00 am at St. Charles Borromeo RC Church, 176 Stagecoach Rd., Sicklerville, NJ. Interment Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown, NJ.
