Dr. Arnold S. Dion, Sr.
On September 8, 2018 of Washington Twp. Age 79. Beloved husband of Charlene J. Williams. Devoted father of Tina Giblin, Michele Carr (Robert), Arnold S. Dion, Jr., and Sarah Dion. Loving grandfather of 14. Proud great-grandfather of 12. Dear brother of the late Kenneth Dion.
Arnold S. Dion was an internationally renowned scientist who earned his BS and PhD in Biochemistry from the University of New Hampshire and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania.
He devoted his research career to the study of breast cancer and connective tissue biochemistry. He published over 200 manuscripts and presented his work at national and international symposia. His scientific research was funded by the National Institutes of Health. In recent years he devoted significant effort to his own consulting firm specializing in bioinformatics education. Outside of his laboratory endeavors, Arnold strove to reveal the details of accidents that occurred during the development of the atomic bomb at Los Alamos, New Mexico in the 1940’s. His research into these accidents resulted in a frequently cited website devoted to Los Alamos scientists who died during the Manhattan Project.
Arnold was also a talented singer and guitarist. He enjoyed traveling with his devoted spouse Charlene, as well as spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was especially fond of his many feline companions.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Friday 9:30-11:00 am at the Church of the Holy Family, 226 Hurffville Rd., Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial 11:15 am. Interment, Hillcrest Memorial Park, Washington Twp.
