Tony was born in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, NY in 1937. He spent the last twelve years as a snowbird traveling back and forth between New Jersey and Florida. He was an entrepreneur. He owned his own private sanitation company and was active in real estate. He was skilled in the art of deal-making. He was a treasure hunter and he was always thrilled to get a bargain. He was active in the Catholic church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was also a member of The Knights of Columbus and The Elks Lodge. He loved dancing to the oldies. He had a love for all animals. He enjoyed visiting nursing homes with his therapy dog, Rocky. One of his favorite past times, was taking his dog for rides in his truck while listening to Doo Wop and Frank Sinatra. He took pleasure in sitting by his Koi pond. In the early morning, he could be found at a diner or Denny’s socializing over coffee. Many afternoons were spent with his devoted wife Nancy, of 46 years, and other friends at Dunkin Donuts. His favorite song is “My Way” and he will always be remembered as doing things his way!!
During his life, he did not advertise his concern for the homeless but privately he always spoke of his desire to provide housing and a roof over the head of the homeless. With this in mind and in lieu of flowers, we ask you to send donations in Memory of Tony DeRosa to Joseph’s House of Camden, 20 Church Street Camden, NJ 08105.
