Matriarch of the Aloise/Pettinelli Family
Angela Marie Aloise was reunited with her husband and soul mate, the Late Tony, in heaven on October 7, 2014 which was her ninety-fourth birthday. Now, Angela, the Matriarch of our family, is our guardian angel. She is survived by her three sons and their wives, Anthony and Kathryn, Joseph and Rosann, & Eugene and Cynthia. She was also blessed with four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Angela Marie Pettinelli was born October 7, 1920 in Rome, NY to Anunziata and Eugenio. She married Anthony Aloise on July 3, 1942. Their first child Anthony was born August 30, 1945 in Memphis, TN while Tony was still serving in the Army Air Force. After the war, the family made their home at 701 Watkins Street in South Philadelphia. Joseph their second son was born on his mother’s birthday, October 7, 1948. Eugene followed November 11, 1950. In 1956, Angela started her first business, a hair salon on Watkins Street.
In 1960, Angela and her family moved to Turnersville, New Jersey where she would live for the next 35 years. Angela became well known in the community when she opened her second salon in Whitman Square. She and her husband were active members of the community and made many good friends. Along with others, they helped build St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Whitman Square, pledging money for its construction. Soon she will be coming home to her beloved St. Charles, where her family and friends may say farewell.
Angela also loved the Jersey shore. After all their hard work, Tony and she were able to enjoy their retirement in Ventnor, New Jersey, creating many wonderful new memories. Grandchildren came along at last! Angela and Tony could not wait to be grandparents. First, Courtney and Alexander were born to Gene and Cindy. Then Christopher was born to Anthony and Kathie. Finally Joe’s son Nicholas was born. Many happy summer days were enjoyed together in Ventnor.
Angela was also blessed with four great grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Brayden, the children of Courtney and David Kraus; also Aubrey and Holly, daughters of Alex and Lisa Aloise.
Although Angela’s passing from her earthly home will be mourned by all who loved her, we find comfort in knowing she is our guardian angel. We love you and will miss you, Mom.
