William A. Maggi
On April 26, 2022, of Deptford. Age 74. Beloved husband of Carolyn (nee Hartmann). Devoted father of Richard Crawford (Dana) and Tracy Martin (Greg). Loving grandfather of Samantha, Alyssa, Rebecca, Kyle, Logan, and Lance. Dear brother of Jayne Chase, Robert Maggi, and Susan Maggi.
William A. Maggi, 74, of Deptford, NJ passed away in the comfort of his home on April 26, 2022 after a long illness.
He was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 27, 1947, son of the late Albert and Jane Maggi. He is survived by his loving spouse, Carolyn J. Maggi, and his son and daughter, Richard Crawford and Tracy Martin. He was “Poppy” to his coveted six grandchildren, Samantha, Alyssa, Kyle, Rebecca, Logan, and Lance. He is also survived by three siblings, Jayne, Susan, and Robert.
After graduating from Cardinal Dougherty High School in 1966, Bill was determined to serve his country and enlisted in the United States Navy. He became a Boiler Technician/Fireman aboard a Naval Destroyer, the USS Wallace Lind, and went on to fight for his country in Vietnam. Upon his completion of Naval service, Bill came home to earn his degree at LaSalle University. He spent decades working in computer and telecommunications sales until he retired in 2011.
Anyone who knew Bill well would describe him as “the nicest guy I know”. He was caring, outgoing, and loved to interact with his friends. Golf was Bill’s passion for the past 35 years, and you could regularly find him on the golf course with his broad circle of golfing partners. He loved traveling with Carolyn, the Jersey shore, and found his happy place on any beach. He was very into his various sports cars over the years, and was fully vested in all things Philly sports, as he was a loyal fan of the Phillies, Flyers, Sixers, and Eagles.
Bill’s pride and joy in his later years were his 6 grandchildren. He loved watching his grandsons wrestle and play baseball, and would enthusiastically attend the dance recitals and cheer competitions of his granddaughters. You could guarantee he’d show up with flowers for the girls and Philly soft pretzels for the boys. He’d always have the kids gathered around him waiting to hear a funny story or ready to have him share his wisdom on a wide array of topics.
Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation Saturday, May 7th 9:00 – 11:00 am at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. Funeral service 11:00am. Interment will be private.
