Viera Young
(nee Daceniuk) On December 11, 2021 of Aliquippa, PA. Age 80. Beloved wife of the late Ronald. Devoted mother of Edgardo Santillan (Felicia), Patricia Caristo (Joe), and David Santillan. Loving grandmother of Sloane, Elyse, Marissa, Andrew, Eva, and Logan. Dear sister of Rosa Santillan.
Viera Young aka Viera Daceniuk as born in Aususcion, Paraguay, the third daughter of Jose and Tecla Daceniuk, Jewish Immigrants from Ukraine. The family immigrated to South America to escape the Nazi invasion of Poland and Ukraine during WWII. The family moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina during her elementary school years where she married and had her first two children in Argentina. In 1967, Viera and her family immigrated to the United States and lived in South Jersey until 1971. During their residency in NJ, she had her third child.
In 1971, she and her family moved to Philadelphia where she worked for PSFS. After a divorce in 1975-76, she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree and Obtained her Master’s Degree in Bi-Lingual/Bi-Cultural Studies from LaSalle University. Viera also obtained her Chaplaincy Certificate and was Ordained by the Assembly of God , Puerto Rico Branch as a Minister. She devoted most of her life ministering to individuals in Prison and Hospitals while establishing a Clothing Ministry for Indigenous Peoples of the Patagonia Region of Argentina. Viera was key in the establishment of 3 churches in Patagonia.
Viera married Ronald Young in 1989 and moved to Plano, TX to begin an amazing new life. While in Plano, she was employed for Catholic Charities within the U.S. Immigration Office in Dallas. She also worked as Part-Time faculty for a Community College teaching English as a Second Language. Viera and Ron traveled extensively to Argentina, Ukraine, Russia and various locations in the U.S. They especially loved Colorado.
Viera and Ron moved to North Port, FL to retire and enjoy Ocean Life. While in Florida, Viera joined a group of Musicians who ministered to individuals in Retirement Communities and/or Assisted Living Facilities. The group was directed by her best friend, Shauna Tullman. Viera had a great impact on the lives of many people as she loved and ministered to them in her quest to reflect God’s love to this world.
Viera moved to Aliquippa, PA in September 2018 to live with her oldest son and his family. She moved to Washington Twp. Senior Living, Sewell, NJ to live closer to her daughter. Her residency at Washington Twp was short lived. During that time she continued to touch and bless the lives of other residents.
Viera will be missed by her family and all those she had contact with.
Viera’s life will be honored and remembered privately by her family.
