Thomas J. Bowe
On November 24, 2015, of Washington Twp. Age 52. Beloved husband of Lydia (nee Marigliano). Devoted father of Lydia Horan and Kaitlyn Bowe. Dear brother of Lorraine Rapattoni, Patricia O’Hara (Patrick), James Bowe (Ann) and Catherine Termini (Valentino).
Tom was a 19 year resident of Bells Lake in Washington Township, where he lived with his wife Lydia, his two daughters Lydia and Kaitlyn, and his many adorable pets, including his favorite dog Maximus. Tom served proudly in the military from 1983-1988 as an army combat engineer, and a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division. Tom was incredibly proud of his military service and continued to strongly lived by the values he gained during his time in the army. He carried those values with him long after he was discharged.
Throughout Tom’s life he continued to volunteer and support the United States veterans. His wife and daughters were so proud of him when was awarded the Mayor’s Recognition Award for Volunteerism from Washington Township. Tom was given this award after he organized a collection drive for wounded service personnel at Walter Reed Hospital, and took it upon himself to personally deliver the items to our wounded soldiers in Washington, D.C.
Anyone who met Tom could instantly tell he had such a kindhearted and caring soul. He would go out of his way to do whatever he could for someone in need. He loved to help and to listen, always without judgment and understanding. Being born and raised in Philadelphia, he was naturally a huge Philadelphia sports fan and especially loved cheering on his favorite team, the Philadelphia Flyers. From a young age he always had a soft spot for animals. Any time one of his daughters suggested a new kitten or puppy, Tom couldn’t help but give in. Most notably, he was an exceedingly hard worker. After years of driving up and down the East Coast with Yellow Freight Trucking Company he obtained a position with Airgas Incorporated and always took immense pride in his work.
Tom’s biggest love was undoubtedly his family. After the chaotic circumstances of Tom’s youth, his number one goal was to raise his daughters in a safe and reliable home. He worked as hard as he possibly could so that his three girls were taken care of and would never go without anything they wanted or needed. He loved spending time with them, going for walks, watching movies, making dinner and trying new things. Any time he talked about Lydia, Little Lydia and Kaitlyn he always referred to them as “My girls.” After all of Tom’s many accomplishments, his family was his crowning achievement.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Saturday 9:00-11:00 AM at the Egizi Funeral Home 119 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Funeral service 11:00 AM. Interment, Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bowe Family.
