Susan M. “Sue” Larsen (née Vanyur)
June 10th, 1950 – May 3rd, 2026
Susan M. “Sue” Larsen, born on a hot and humid June day, lived a life much like that day—warm, full, and rich with energy, laughter, and a spirit that naturally brought people together. She passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and deep devotion to those fortunate to be part of her life. She was predeceased by her parents, Louise (née Nessel) and John Vanyur, and her husband, Joseph Larsen. At the center of her life was her daughter, Christine Larsen-Britt, and son-in-law, Scott Britt. Whether watching the Philadelphia Phillies together (yes, even during those years), enjoying a summer BBQ, or spending holidays side by side, she cherished their time together. She is also survived by her siblings, John Vanyur, Marie Andrews Coleman, and Louise Scott, along with her nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Sue worked for many years for Philadelphia Family Court before retiring to Cape May County, where she embraced the shore life she loved. She enjoyed playing mahjong, gathering with her trivia team, the Tidewater Titans, and cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies. Sunny and Finnley, her beloved grand-dogs, always greeted her with unmistakable excitement. She will be remembered for all the big and small things that made up who she was-wearing her Phillies red, the traces of Sunny and Finnley’s enthusiastic, nose-first greetings, and for the warmth and beauty she carried both inside and out. Much like that hot and humid June day, her love for her family was steady, strong, and impossible to miss.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Sue’s memory may be made to Samaritan Hospice or Cape May County Park & Zoo.
