I’m so sorry to hear of Sue’s passing. My deepest sympathies to her family. I knew Sue from Syracuse University. I was her Big Sister and sponsor at the Upsilon Alpha chapter at the Chi Omega sorority. Sue’s sunny smile and personality lit up every room, and her joy of life shined through. Many may not know that she was the chapter’s first African American member. She broke barriers with grace, good humor and steadfast character. She was a true blessing.

Susan, you are truly going to be missed by all! It was a pleasure to work with you and although we were co workers you also became a friend. Every time I called or emailed you it was always a pleasure to talk to you and I am definitely going to miss that.

She was truly a light in the world. I’ll miss those long holiday dinners (including the special bonus Thanksgiving she hosted) — I’m pretty sure she was the best listener I ever encountered, you just felt held and appreciated when she was around. A tragic loss…
