Shirley J. Hughes
On August 25, 2021 of Williamstown. Age 88. Beloved wife of the late Glenn E. Hughes. Devoted mother of Mark Hughes and the late Sabrina Thayer.
Shirley Hughes was a powerhouse that lifted her entire family into prosperity. Her dynamic and approachable way with others had so many through the years reaching out to speak with her. Born during a tough time for America – The Great Depression – her drive and ambition propelled her out of poverty and into a career with Tupperware. Yes, she was a master of the Tupperware party! Glenn, her late husband of 57 years, partnered with her to run a distributorship in Dallas, Texas and Yorba Linda, California for over 37 years before their retirement. Shirley was the breadwinner and Glenn did the cooking. Her love of trees and plants resulted in a life long passion to have a beautiful yard and koi pond. Her Christmas cards were always used a photo of her yard. Nobody loved animals more than Shirley – cats and dogs specifically. She’d adopted many a stray cat or provided kibble at night for the ones she couldn’t. When she lost her best friend, her daughter Sabrina to cancer, she’d stay close to her son Mark. Many lives are better today from her love and guidance through her 88 years. She made a difference.
Shirley’s life will be honored and remembered privately by her family.
