Salvatore “Sam” Franzini on May 23, 2016 of Washington Township. Age 65. Beloved husband of Donna (Nee Karaskevicus) Devoted father of Christina (Josh), Jessica (Vince) and Joseph (Erin) Loving Grandfather of Sara, Vincent, Nicholas, Angelo, Addison and Anthony. Loving son of Helen (Nee Conte) and of the late Salvatore. Dear brother of Judy Moss, John (Arlene) and MaryAnn Marcello (Chuck) He is also survived by his in-laws and many nieces and nephews and childhood friends.

Sam was a loving man who was known for his contagious smile. He loved his family more than anything. For the 41 years he was married to Donna, he embraced life to the fullest with the family they created together. Whether discussing the Phillies over home cooked meals with Christina, to having morning omelets with Jessica and movie nights with Joe. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren from playing in Uno tournaments to helping Mr Duck find Mrs Duck the most beautiful bracelet.

Sam had so much love for his mother Ella (Helen) Besides making sure she was always cared for, he shared her love of cooking and tried perfecting her best dishes to continue her legacy to his children. Besides passing on her famous recipes, was their shared joking sense of humor. Judy, John and MaryAnn can attest to this behavior.

Sam started his working career at Triangle Publications where he met his love Donna. From there he went to Hunt Manufacturing for 19 years as a computer programmer. This is where he helped start an elite group known as the “Tomato Boys” He finally worked for Edmund Optics for almost 18 years and decided to retire after becoming the “Chili Cook-off Champ”

Sam followed the Lord and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Throughout his life journey he touched and helped so many lives. He will never be forgotten and will be missed by many.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Friday 6-8 PM, Saturday 8:15-9:15 AM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday 10 AM at Mary, Mother of Mercy Parish, Our Lady of Lourdes 500 Greentree Road, Glassboro. Interment St Joseph’s Cemetery, Chews Landing.

I only sat next to Sam at EO for a few months, after having transferred to IS, but had interacted with him day to day for a while with reporting questions. I was upset at his retirement purely from a selfish standpoint that I enjoyed his sense of humor and personality and wanted to learn more from him. I am truly saddened by his passing not just because a wonderful person will no longer be with his loved ones and be able to spend time with his family, but more so I am saddened that the world has lost such a beautiful, kind hearted person.

To the Franzini family - I worked with Sam for many years at EO until I retired 9 years ago. He was part of our Catholic Men's prayer group until I moved to PA in 2007. He was one of the kindest and gentle men I've ever known and he loved his family and God. I am so shocked to learn of his passing that I have no words to express my sincere and deep sympathy. I only know, deep in my heart he is a peace with our Lord and I pray you all receive the grace and peace to know that Sam is with Him. My heartfelt sympathy to Chris and Jess and all of Sam's family.

I became friends with the Francini's when they lived in Northern Ky. Our children went to school together and Donna and I sang in the folk group. Often Sam would watch all seven of our children while we sang. He even offered to watch all seven so Donna and I could go to bingo one night. When we got back they were all alive. I remember him as always being happy and his selflessness, always putting others needs before his own. I am sure our Lord welcomed him into heaven with a "well done thou good and faithful servant" Donna, know that the people of St. Paul will be praying for Sam and for you and the family . Sam was one of the most genuinely caring and compassionate people I have ever known. He always had a smile for me when I needed one and was always the first one to wish me happy birthday. He will be sorely missed

Sam was a colleague and friend at Edmund Optics for my 5 years here. He shared his faith with me, and I will always treasure the gift he gave me of tickets to see the Pope last September. Sam will be in my memory always for his warmth, his smile, and his dedication to the service of others. Mr. Sam was one of the best neighbors we every had. My children adored him thus always calling out Mr. Sam as he went for one of his walks. Living next door for eleven years, we have seen what a great father, husband, and grandfather he was. He was a beautiful person and will be sadly missed by all.
