On January 28, 2017 of Washington Twp. Age 95. Beloved wife of the late Kenneth M. Thorsen. Devoted mother of Carol D. Yorty (George) and Paul J. Thorsen (Helen Keadall). Loving grandmother of Heather E. Ravani (Raj), George N. Yorty (Elizabeth) and Presten J. Thorsen. Proud great-grandmother of Zachary A. Hemple, Joshua R. Ravani and Dean N. Yorty.

Ruth was a Charter member of Apostles Lutheran Church in Elmont, NY. She was a member of Edenton First Presbyterian Church for over 30 years and a member f Edith Stetler’s Choral Group at Carnegie Hall. She enjoyed church choirs and church women’s group. She was a member of the Sweet Adelines, a women’s barbershop-style singing choirs. Ruth also Volunteered at the Franklin Institute for the Blind, transcribing books an other information into Braille.

Ruth was also a member of the Edenton Historic Society and volunteered at the Visitor’s Center. she enjoyed boating with her husband and family. She and her husband enjoyed traveling, gardening, painting, hooking rugs, and refinishing and caning antiques.

Ruth’s life will be honored and remembered by her family privately.
