On January 1, 2010 after a very brief illness, of Turnersville, NJ. Age 65. Beloved husband of 42 years to Linda nee Toomey. Devoted father of David M. and his wife Dorine of Collegeville, PA and their daughters Caroline and Serena who were the love of their grandfather’s life. Loving son of Evelyn nee Moroney and the late Warren. Dear brother of Joyce Harrington and her husband Philip and cousin of Eleanor Harrison all of Salem, MA. Brother in law of Esme and Richard Waugh of Melrose, MA. He will be missed by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Also survived by son Philip and his children.

Roy graduated from Salem High School in 1962 and Northeastern University in 1967 with an Electrical Engineering degree. He worked for the Department of Defense at the Boston and Philadelphia Shipyards from 1962 until his retirement in 1996. Roy had a passion for youth sports. He coached and refereed basketball, soccer and baseball. He was a commissioner for WTPR Basketball from 1988-2003. He enjoyed all sports, especially Temple University basketball.

After his retirement Roy and Linda loved to travel to the Caribbean, Las Vegas and go on cruises and especially enjoyed his time at Myrtle Beach with Dave, Dorine and his granddaughters. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Wednesday eve from 7-9 pm and Thursday morning from 9:15 – 10:15 am at the EGIZI FUNERAL HOME, 119 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial 11 am at the Church of the Holy Family, Washington Twp. Interment private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Roy’s memory may be made to the ALS Association, Greater Philadelphia Chapter, 321 Norristown Rd, Suite 260, Ambler PA 19002.

Dear Linda, David and Philip, Events like these bring the rush of memories. As fond as those memories are, the loss is still difficult to accept. To me, my very good high school friend Roy, always had an impressive focus from his love and affection for you to his assumption of "Commissioner duties" well after your boys were done with youth sports. I was not surprised to read that he became a "Big Fan" of Temple University Basketball. His life on earth here ended too early and too abruptly, but it was a full life nevertheless, and he was blessed to have a very good and loving partner to share in it with him. Mrs. Goodridge and Family, I was at Hurffville Elementary School when I heard about the loss of your husband. You were a wonderful teacher to my son, Tom, and I want you to know that you have a special place in our hearts. We are truly sorry for your loss and you will be in our prayers.
