Robert “Bob” Warren Bailey of Washington Township, New Jersey passed away surrounded by family on January 25, 2022.
Bob was born to James and Katherine Bailey in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on December 14, 1937. He was the youngest of five brothers. Bob proudly served his country as an Airman, 2nd Class in the United States Air Force from 1956-1962 and found fulfillment working on jet engines. He left the service to settle down and marry his wife Dolores “Dee” (nee Russo). They resided in Yeadon, Pennsylvania before relocating to the newly-built Birches development in Washington Township, New Jersey to raise their family in a community where they would all make lifelong friends.
An excellent storyteller, Bob was fond of sharing stories from his youth that would sometimes shock his grandchildren. Employed for many years as a truck driver in the Teamsters Union, Bob was an expert on the city streets of Philadelphia and would happily tell you how to get anywhere (even if you didn’t ask). Bob was an enthusiastic boater and fisherman and has many fond memories of fishing trips with friends and family and owning his boat “The Gypsy” on B Dock at the Trump Marina. He loved traveling to Florida and using the internet to find great deals on airfare. Later in life, he enjoyed playing pool at the Parke Place Clubhouse with his buddies and keeping up with friends and family using Facebook on his iPad.
Bob is survived by his wife Dolores; children Loretta (Tom) Duus, April Bailey, Brian (Tina) Bailey and the late Valerie McGuire; grandchildren John (Rebekah), Michael (Melissa), Christopher, Melanie, Samantha (Jay), Jaclyn (Vincent), James, and Destiny; and great-grandchildren Vanessa, Magnolia, Dylan, Finley and Benjamin. Bob was preceded in death by his son Robert Bailey.
Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing Saturday, February 5 from 1:00 – 2:30 PM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Funeral service 2:30 PM. Interment Gloucester County Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory may be made to Veterans Helping Veterans, PO Box 337, Woodbury, NJ 08096.
The Family request that guests respectfully wear masks.
