On October 13, 2014 of Washington Twp., NJ Age 49. Beloved husband of Lori Ann (nee Amundsen). Devoted son of Thea and her husband Joseph Ryley and the late Robert L Cookinham, Sr. Dear brother of Wendy Sotera (Fiance Frank). Dear son-in-law of Mildred M. and the late Thomas C. Amundsen, Sr. Dear brother-in-law of Thomas, Jr. (Celeste), Karin Nickodemus, Robin Simonson (Allan), Stacey Amundsen and the late Allison A. Furtaw. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, and aunts and uncles.
Rob and Lori met when Rob was 16 years old. He was walking home from work in the pouring rain. Lori’s mom, Millie, stopped and offered him a ride home. A few days later, Lori met Rob at a party, and the story began. Happily married for 26 years, Rob adored his wife. And she adored him. They were the light of each other’s lives.
Rob was a smart, fun, and ambitious man. He loved his job as a millwright in Local 1906 Millwright and Machinery Erectors. He was a stickler for perfection and innovation, and was respected and admired by his coworkers. Whether working for George Young at the MedImmune facility, dismantling and moving the Liberty Bell, or hanging a beautiful piece of metal art from the lobby ceiling of a prominent Philadelphia hospital, he did his job to the fullest and with the utmost safety. He took so much pride in his job as a millwright that he was promoted to supervisor and requested at many job locations including Puerto Rico.
Rob had many talents and interests including fishing, history, Wildwood, bike shows, motorcycle runs, hanging at the VFW, and spending time with his family. Riding his 2003 Anniversary Harley Davidson Road King with Lori was by far his passion and most favorite thing to do. On September 21, 2014 Rob won first place in the Atco Dragway Hogs and Hot Rods Harley Bike Show Big Twin Dresser category. On September 28, 2014 Rob won first place at the Pennsauken Township and B.I.G. Council Annual Car and Bike Show. All of Rob and Lori’s vacations were spent traveling the country on his Harley. If Rob wasn’t working you could find him on his Harley.
Rob treated every one of his nieces and nephews as his own child. Whether playing practical jokes, going to Wildwood and sneaking his nieces into the bar on Irish Weekend, seeing his nephew’s rock band play, watching his niece’s dance recital or just hanging out in the pool Uncle Rob was always fun. Uncle Rob was always there…always there to make you smile, make you laugh and let you know he cared. Tommy, Kirstin, Karryn, Paul, Courtney, Emily, Krystal, Jimmy, Kimberly, Haley, Kelly, Allan, Shane, Alexander, Dylan, and Mikayla will miss him terribly.
His family meant the world to him and he made sure he let them know that. He will be missed by his wife, mother, sister, mother-in-law, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, numerous friends, and union brothers.
A life that ended too soon. He left an indelible impression on every life and every person that had the pleasure of knowing him. His robust laugh and love of life is what we will remember.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Friday 6:00-9:00 pm and Saturday 8:15-9:15 am at the Egizi Funeral Home 119 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 am at the Church of the Holy Family, Washington Twp. Interment Manahath Cemetery, Glassboro. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.egizifuneral.com

October is fast approaching , birthday month and but the terrible tragedy month...the worst tragedy that has ever happened to us all. Living miles apart never stopped me from thinking of you and still. I have a memory of calling Rob and Lori one Christmas day ..Lori was working at the hospital and Rob said he was giving his family of birds their baths . He was so happy I called and we chatted for quite a while I'm so glad I called that Christmas day because I can still hear his voice and always will. He was a sweet little nephew from the day my sister brought him home from the hospital and turned into such an awesome man. Fondly remembered , never forgotten, forever loved.

To use the word sad is an understatement. Robbie was not only my friend growing up, he was my big brother (by a month). They didn't call us (me, Robbie and Aaron) the Three Musketeers without reason. My heart is aching and the tears don't stop. We have lost a most valued part of our family Rob, my son in law whom I consider my Son. Most precious and dear person who would sacrifice all for others. His family values were next to none He treasured every moment he could with them and every event , he would try to be there. He filled our homes and hearts with love and laughter that cannot be replaced. I respected him and loved him with s deep motherly love and am so glad he came into our lives when he married my daughter Lori. The young people in the family learned much from him. Family values, respect and love. He cherished the day he was named Godfather to his nephew Dylan. Things like this affected Rob deeply. He gave much, asked for little.
