Robert J. Morris
On April 16, 2023, of Glassboro. Age, 90. Beloved husband of the late Marie R. (nee Grazel). Devoted father of James A. Morris and his wife Nancy. Loving grandfather of Robert and Alexandria. Dear brother of the late Charles E. Morris, Elizabeth Powell, Charlotte Poole, and Cecelia McFadden. Loved by nieces and nephews.
Robert was in the United States Naval Reserves from 1949 through 1953. He was a Member of the International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers, Locals 7 & 5 in New Jersey, completing an apprenticeship and working as a journeyman and foreman on various commercial and institutional projects.
He designed and built the masonry home in which he would raise his family and remain in for 59 years.
Robert was also an Architect Field Representative, Inspector, Superintendent and Clerk of the Works for Several Public School Projects throughout Southern New Jersey. He was self-employed General Contractor for several commercial and residential repairs and alterations.
Robert was an active parishioner at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Glassboro since 1965, where he volunteered several hours performing as-needed maintenance, repairs and alterations. He had a lifelong passion for sports, including the Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia Phillies, and Philadelphia 76ers, as well as motorsports.
In retirement, Bob loved spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren and his dogs, before becoming his wife Marie’s fulltime caretaker from 2003 until her passing in 2021.
Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing Thursday 8:45 AM-10:15 AM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM at Mary, Mother of Mercy Parish/Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church, Glassboro. Entombment, Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro.
