Robert J. Cimino
On July 20, 2023 of Erial. Age 75. Beloved husband of Bessie Fay (nee Liss). Devoted father of Leah Ann Watson (Jim), Tonia Troilo (Steve), and Anthony Carozza (Stephanie). Loving grandfather of Talia, Cole, Joseph, Giavanna, Sophia, Steven, Nicoletta, Antonia, Giuliana, and Frankie. Dear brother of the late Sandra Bethanis (Pete). Loved by nieces and nephews.
Robert, Bob, Dad, Pop Cimino, known for his warm smile and strong work ethic made a positive impact on so many through the years.
Bob had a love of being on the water that began with his grandfather Tata fishing in Strathmere. His Father Santos gave him the gift of being handy as they built their home in Glendora, NJ. Bob maintained his mother, Irene’s home after his father’s passing and in her surviving years. The family spent many Sunday dinners there together enjoying the delicious gravy and meatballs she would make, which Bob perfected and enjoyed making for many years.
Bob attended the University of Miami where he was called to duty to serve his country in the Vietnam war. He was a part of Army Corps of Engineers in the 538th Engineer Company. Upon his return home, he worked as a bartender, pouring happiness for patrons and friends. He spent many years at Coach auto parts, salvaging and working on cars. Then he turned his passion for golf into a career. After passing the PAT and getting his PGA card he became a club pro. He spent the majority of his career with the All Fore Golf Company, managing courses, giving lessons and repairing clubs. After retirement, Bob opened The Golf Shop in his garage. Regular customers and friends spent hours in his shop, talking about sports, cars, and politics. He regripped clubs, replaced broken shafts, and built sets of clubs for his grandchildren.
Bob enjoyed spending time with his family. He had a nickname for all his children and grandchildren. He was a self-proclaimed warehouse of useless information. Bob was able to fix anything and everything. Extra parts were very common, and he had a specialty of “rigging” things to get the job done.
He will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him including his two dogs, Beauty and One-Eyed Jack.
Robert’s life will be honored and remembered privately by his family.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert’s memory may be made to Veterans Helping Veterans at www.vethelpingvet.org.
