Robert F. Dean on February 23, 2017, of Washington Twp. Age 83. Beloved husband of Geri (nee Evanko). Loving father of Robert F. Dean, Jr. (Kara), Mark A. Dean (Stephanie), Gary P. Dean (Susan), Jeffrey A. Dean, Brian J. Dean (Jen) and his late daughter Dana Lynn Dean. Devoted grandfather of Dana, Sarah, Lauren, Bobby, Morgan, Jenna, Matthew, Natalie and Eric. He is also survived by his dear companions Happy and Trixie.
Robert (Bob) was born and raised in Wilkesboro PA. Bob eventually moved to Upper Darby where he attended Upper Darby High school. It was in High School where Bob played and developed his love of basketball. After graduating high school, Bob attended the University of Pennsylvania, Wharton School of Business, where he received his degree in Business. In 1956, he went on to serve in the United States Army. He was stationed in Europe for two years, where he extensively traveled and enjoyed all the various places he visited. After serving his tour, he was in the Army reserve for four years. He was honorably discharged in September 1962.
Bob started his civilian life working in an insurance firm in Pennsylvania, where he met the love of his life, Geri. They were a wonderful pair, him with his sense of humor and Geri with her kind heart. Bob and Geri were happily married on a beautiful day in November, 1960. They decided to move to Southern New Jersey where they would raise their family. They spent several years in Deptford Township starting their family and then settled in Washington Township. Bob worked successfully as a Project Manager on military and government contracts at RCA for his entire career.
Bob enjoyed many things in his life, but none more than his beloved family. He loved being a father to not only his five boys, but to his daughter- in- laws as well. He was also an amazing grandfather to all nine of his grandchildren. He could be seen supporting and cheering on all his favorite participants in any of the many extracurricular activities they were involved with. He also enjoyed visiting with his sons on Saturday morning were he would always bring an assortment of bagels and muffins, along with notepads, coupons and anything else he thought they could use. He liked his neighbors and had a great time joking around with them. All of his boys and even his grandchildren, were blessed with his sense of humor and wit.
Bob has donated to various charities and organizations during his life. He was especially fond of animals and he loved his dogs as well as all the other pets in the family. Bob was a big man with an even bigger heart!
