Rita Vera Matarazzo (nee Miari) was born July 28, 1936 in South Philadelphia. She grew up with her loving younger sister, Marie, and her parents, Grace and Max. Rita attended Hallahan Catholic Girls’ High School, graduating in 1954. She then graduated from Pierce Business School in 1955.
She married Nick Matarazzo in 1959. Rita and Nick shared 41 years together raising two wonderful children. Rita loved decorating, arts and crafts, baking, cooking, gardening, The Golden Girls, music, dancing, shopping, and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Rita was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother (“Big Nonni”). She was fiercely caring, dramatic, and just the right amount of spiteful. She was incredibly strong, a fireball, and a force to be reckoned with. Rita was an inspiration, teacher, and friend to all who were lucky enough to cross her path. Rita, the queen, leaves behind an incomparable and legendary legacy filled with laughter, light, and most of all, love.
No words will ever be enough – thank you for everything we know! We love you!
