Rita Calvarese (nee Ferragina), on December 26, 2012, of Washington Twp. Age 88. Beloved wife of the late Louis. Devoted mother of Louis G. (Lucinda), John J. (Tish) and Joann G. Loving grandmother of Jenna (Brendan), Alexa (Mike), Michael, Phillip, Amanda and Jessica (Ernie). Proud great-grandmother of Troy, Angelina and Giovanni. Dear sister of Tony Ferragina (Carol). Sister-in-law of Frances Ferragina and Peggy Calvarese. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Mom served a wonderful Christmas Eve feast of the Seven Fishes, a family tradition of 88 years, with her devoted children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Suddenly on Christmas Morning Mom had a massive stroke which was not reversible. Mom passed on December 26th surrounded by her children. Mom will have Christmas time forever in heaven.
Mom was devoted to her church, husband, children, and was known amongst the family as a superior “chef”. Everything that she did was to perfection. Friday night was homemade pizza night and it wasn’t one pie, it was several. That also included pizza for the Nuns at St. Louis Parish in Yeadon. Every meal was a feast as she cooked for many.
Mom was vogue, she hung out with her children until sometimes as late as midnight! Loved going to Atlantic City to play the slots. Mom was so welcoming and loving.
Mom was a great delegator in her later years, always having a “honey do list” for her children. The list best better be completed correctly as she would send you back if it wasn’t exactly what she needed. And in such a warm way that you just wanted to go to the store multiple times!
Mom, had this unique sense of humor, very quiet but funny. She was intuitive for her age knowing what was going on around her and who knew about her independence, being able to live alone and being productive.
Mom had several favorite TV shows, one in particular was” Everyone Loves Raymond” and as anyone who knew/met Mom you came away with “Everyone Loves Rita”.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Monday 9:00 – 11:00 am at Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial 12:00 pm at Our Lady of Peace Parish, St. Mary’s RC Church, Williamstown. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, PA.
Condolences may be shared with the family at www.egizifuneral.com.
