Reynaldo C. Balatbat,
86, of Washington Township, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 23rd, 2016. He is survived by Gloria (nee Sagum) his loving wife of 53 years, his daughters Glorelyn (Greg Shuster), Lisa, Jennifer (Corey Krusa) and Michelle (Daniel Polowetzky) and grandchildren Kelly, Danielle, Ethan, Keith and Daisy.
Reynaldo was born in Hagonoy, Bulacan, Philippines and enlisted in the United States Navy on September 15, 1953 and proudly served until his retirement on March 30, 1979 when he was honorably discharged attaining the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer Storekeeper, the highest rank attainable for enlisted Navy personnel. He was also a proud Vietnam Veteran who served as part of the U.S. Naval Advisory group at support bases in Qui Nhon, Ca Mau and Saigon, Vietnam.
Reynaldo loved gardening, music, and spending time with his family. He was known for always working on his gardens and being quite the handyman carpenter, always building or improving upon something. His greatest joy after retirement was spoiling his grandchildren who he loved to babysit and spoil with trips to fast food restaurants, gifts and toys. He will always be admired and remembered for his quiet strength, integrity and generosity to others, and will be greatly missed by many.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Thursday 7:00 – 9:00 pm and Friday 8:45 – 9:45 am at Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial Friday 10:30 am at SS Peter & Paul RC Church, Washington Twp. Interment Gloucester County Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown.
