On August 18, 2010, of Turnersville, NJ. Age 76. Beloved husband of 54 years to Elizabeth A. nee Jeffers. Devoted father of Raymond S. Phillips, III Jeneath, Elizabeth A. Nicktern Edward, Jeffrey P. Phillips Donna, Matthew C. Phillips and Amy L. Sichel Richard. Loving grandfather of Adam and Justin Nicktern, Jeffrey, Joshua and Jenna Phillips, and Lauren, Richard and Claire Sichel. Dear brother of Robert C. Phillips Catherine, Susan J. DiTanno Mario and the late Dorothy M. Davis Robert. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Ray was born in Philadelphia and later resided in Ridley Park, PA, before moving to Turnersville in 1968. Ray was a 1951 graduate from Dobbins Vocational School in Philadelphia. He was employed by Bell Telephone Co. of PA for 38 years. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. Upon retirement from Bell in 1988, he became employed with The Univ. of PA. He served in the Naval Reserve Submarine Division for 5 years and then served 2 years in the US Army Signal Corps.

Ray was a long-time member of Bunker Hill Presbyterian Church in Sewell, having served several terms as both an Elder and Trustee.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Sunday eve 7:00 – 9:00 pm and Monday 8:15 – 9:15 am at the EGIZI FUNERAL HOME, 119 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Funeral Service 10:00 am at Bunker Hill Presbyterian Church, Washington Twp. Interment Hillcrest Memorial Park, Washington Twp.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Bunker Hill Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund, 330 Greentree Rd., Sewell, NJ 08080.

Dear Phillips Family, I went to school with Amy. I am so sorry and sadden of Mr. Phillips passing. Amy- I am sure your dad was so proud and comforted at how your family pulled together during the difficult hospital stay. Let some comfort be that in the reality & faith that his next step is for eternity in heaven. His cherished spirit is in all of you. He will remain in your hearts for eternity. The Phillips family, So sorry for your loss. What a nice man he was. Always a smile and a friendly "Hello" whenever we saw him. School House Lane has lost another angel. Our prayers are with all of you through this difficult time.

We grew up with Mr Phillips being an integral part of our family. From the days of car pooling to "Bell" with our dad to later years of telethon work, Ray blessed us with many cherished memories. Our prayers for God's comfort go out to the entire Phillips family.

I am so saddened by the passing of Mr. Phillips. I pray the Lord will comfort the hearts of his family and friends.

Dear Roomie Amy and family, I am so sorry for the loss of your dad. He was truly a wonderful person who loved and enjoyed his family. My fondest memories of your dad all take place when both sets of our parents drove us up every year to Rider College and helped us organize our dorm room. Mr. Phillips always was in charge of providing enough phone wire so that we could take the phone anywhere in our room and that was a big deal back in 1988 because we didn't have cell phones. Mr. Phillips in recent years at weddings and birthday parties would often comment to me about how proud he was of Amy and I. Even though I have not seen Mr. Phillips in a year, I think of him often as I drive down Greentree Road and see his teal pickup truck parked in the church parking lot. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you as you go through this very difficult time. Don't think of this as goodbye but only...until we meet again!

Uncle Ray, we are so glad you are pain free and dancing! I imagined you yesterday grabbing your sister Dolly's hand and running and laughing with her, saying , "Come here, I want to show you something ... But let's go get mom and dad first!" I asked the Lord to help me really let my imagination go. It is helping me to rejoice ... really rejoice!

The world was a better place with Ray Phillips in it. He was truly a "good" man in the real sense of the word. We were blessed to live across the street from him for "42" years. Ray was always there...he helped Gene countless times with his "scooter", saved our house from burning down. On one occasion, I backed into his car...."No problem, Lynn, I'll just bang it out". He was our hero and we will always be grateful to have had him in our lives.

Aunt Betty and Family, I was very sadden when I heard of Uncle Ray's passing. They always say only the good die young. I often reflect on the times we had in the summer growing up. I hold them close to me in the heart. Uncle Ray is a good man and always made me laugh. At least now he is not suffering and is at peace. He'll always be with us in our hearts. What a wonderful looking man and one I really wish I could have met. What I have heard about him makes it even that much more. My prayers are with him and family. Just know that he is in a much better place looking down on all. May he rest in peace.

Great Uncle Ray, Death can't be understood;however life can be. Never know why people are ever taken but you know you were loved by everyone. I know we didn't really know each other very well, but I know the importance of family especially ours. Love you, miss you!!!
