Ralph R. Capozzoli, 91, of Washington Township, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 23, 2023. Beloved husband of the late Rose Capozzoli (nee Giletto). Loving father of Maria Phillips (Mark), Debra Moore (Russell), and the late Roberta Sochanski (Ronald). Devoted grandfather of Alexander, Michael (Jennifer), Samantha (Michael), Matthew (Danielle), Jacqueline, Jennifer, Nicole, and David. Loving son of the late Ralph and Almerinda.
While attending Drexel University, Ralph met the love of his life, Rose. After graduating from Drexel and serving in the Navy, they married in 1958. Ralph worked for more than 30 years at the Philadelphia Board of Education. He continued his education and earned his M.A. plus 30. In 1960, they moved from Philadelphia to Washington Twp.
Ralph was a true “family man” who loved doting over his wife and daughters as well as chauffeuring them around at their every beck and call. Ralph enjoyed spending time with his wife, at the Jersey shore. Most of all, he delighted in spending time with his family, especially his eight grandchildren.
Ralph’s second love was sports. From being a fanatic over the Phillies, Eagles, Sixers and Flyers, to his enthusiasm watching his daughter, Roberta, play numerous sports. Ralph’s love for numbers and his mathematical mind drew him to read about and discuss various sporting statistics with anyone that would listen. This lead him to become heavily involved in the WTPR organization including coaching, umpiring, and writing weekly sports articles for the local newspaper. Ralph also had a love of homemade Italian food prepared by his wife and daughters.
Resting in the arms of our Savior, Jesus Christ, Ralph is now at peace in heaven with our mother, Rose, the love of his life, and our dear sister, Roberta.
Family and friends are invited to his viewing Thursday 7:00-9:00 pm at Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. and a viewing on Friday at 9:15-10:15 am at Saint Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church, Washington Twp. Followed at 10:30 am by Mass of Christian Burial. Entombment All Saints Cemetery, Newfield, NJ.
