Paulette’s Story…
Paulette was born on December 10, 1948 to the late Charles and Mattie Heard.
Paulette, often known by many as Paulie, was born and raised in Camden NJ. She attended Camden High School where she loved to sing on the school choir and was voted the school’s very first African American Homecoming Queen in 1967. Paulette would enter various pageants and talent shows- always showcasing her beautiful voice.
In 1971 Paulette gave birth to the joy of her life, her daughter Ebony Nina…she affectionately called her “My Beautiful Gift” in a poem that she would later publish. Paulette was a doting Mother and loved to brag about her Ebony; she was the light of Paulette’s life.
In 1975 Paulette met the next love of her life, her soul mate- Allen “Rocky” Mc Allister. The two married on May 30th 1980 and began a life filled with love and later a devotion to a ministry for Christ. They were inseparable and their love spanned over four decades.
In the early 1980’s Paulette gave her life to Christ and attended Deliverance Evangelistic Church in Philadelphia PA, led by the late Pastor Benjamin Smith. Paulette was called to ministry by God and attended Manna Bible College; Antioch School of Biblical Studies and was an ordained Elder through United Disciples of Christ Ministry in Glassboro NJ. She is Co- Pastor of Trinity Mind, Body and Soul Ministry along with her husband Allen. Paulette and Allen along with their grandson Isaiah co- host a weekly radio broadcast on WTMR intitled “ Walking In Your Authority According To the Trinity.” Paulette and Allen have traveled abroad and ministered internationally in Africa as well as in the French West Indies.
An avid reader, Paulette was inspired by the Holy Spirit to write; she wrote and published her first book “Look At You” a collection of inspirational poems in 2017; and then went on to write and publish her second book, this time of short stories in 2019 entitled “What Do You See?” Paulette said that God had shown her so many things in her life and in the world around her that she had to write about it!
Paulette loved to travel, she and Allen traveled to other countries and various islands on vacations – but her favorite place to be, was in the Bahamas. Paulette and Allen had built up an extended family there and nurtured several meaningful friendships over the years. They enjoyed sharing God’s Word there and participated in praise and worship often on the beach or at their villa with friends. They enjoyed the fellowship, the laughs, praying together and eating her favorite island dishes from the local eateries! Paulette was known for her love of the beach and the ocean- everyone knew that you could always find her sitting out on her patio overlooking the ocean at the Island Seas Resort.
Family time was important and valuable to Paulette; she and Allen would host a big family fellowship several times a year at their home which was a time for fun, laughs and of course praise and worship was a must. Paulette made sure that everyone came prepared with a song, a testimony, a word or something…and you better have your material READY! She had a humorous side and loved getting on the phone with family and being a pinch “inquisitive” – just because she wanted to make sure everything was ok, her favorite people to “cut up” with on the phone were her brother Charles also known as “Chick” and her favorite cousin Tracy.
Paulette especially loved spending time with her grandchildren- Taylor and Isaiah. Taylor and Isaiah spent lots of time with her, Paulette planted the seed of God’s word and God’s love in their hearts. It was her joy to take them on various trips and vacations throughout the years, but most of all she praised God because she got to see how much they both loved the Lord. They were her babies and she was their Mom- Mom. Paulette would pick her babies up in her signature big white Cadillac and take them to Rita’s for a gelato after school- she spoiled them to no end!
Paulette had a huge kind heart, she was giving and was always around if you needed prayer, an ear to listen or wise counsel. She would always be the first to answer the call in time of need no matter who you were. Paulette was blessed with a loving and caring husband, daughter and grandchildren and she was committed to being a blessing to others. She loved God and her family as her life was an example of that. She led a life of purpose for the Lord.
