On September 29, 2022. Age 73. Beloved husband of America. Devoted father of Lt. Col. Jason Cockrell, Lance Cockrell, who was his co-caregiver and support (Russell Carpenter), and Maj. Adam Cockrell (Gina). Loving grandfather of Aiden, Olivia, and Alex. Dear brother of Eugene Cockrell (Terry). Cherished uncle of Ernie, Jennifer, and Amanda. Loved by sisters-in-law; Monica, who was his co-caregiver and support, Rene, Tammy, and Lynn and brothers-in-law Elbert and Russell. Survived by best friends Debbie and Jerry Macchione.
Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing Saturday 10:00 – 11:30 AM at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 149 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Funeral service 11:30 AM. Interment Gloucester County Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown.

To the Mrs Cockrell and family. It was with deep sadness that I learned of Herm's passing. He and I go back to the old 5th MASS and the 49th/35th APS days st Mcguire. One of the good guys in a white hat, he always had a smile and a positive attitude. Certainly a good and integral member of the MASS and APS familys. May I offer my deepest sympathies to you and your family. Surely he will be missed, but just as certain, he will always be remembered with fondness.

besides being saddened by the news I was in a flash back in the 49th and 35th Aerial Port Squadrons and seeing him with that great smile. I never remember seeing him without it. those who have read the obit and watched the video can easily see the love which he gave to the family and friends, and I am sure is a major source of their success. my deepest .
