Loving Father to Brooklyn, Matthew, Madison; Dedicated Husband to Linda; Proud Son to Lawrence & Rosanne; Caring Brother to Anne, Brett, Jeffrey. Served in the United States Navy as an Aviation Ordnanceman, aboard the USS Kitty Hawk, during the War in Iraq.

For anyone who knew Matt, they would all agree he was the life of any party. Fun, loving, outspoken, and welcoming to any and all, he brought an indescribable life and energy to all occasions. Through his youth, he was involved in the ROTC program, ascending into the US Navy, stationed in Japan aboard the USS Kitty Hawk, and deployed during the War in Iraq. He married the love of his life, Linda Lavell, and had three wonderful children Brooklyn, Matthew, & Madison that continually made him a proud father. His loyalty to his wife, children, family and friends could never be disputed. Matt had a heart of gold, and would move mountains for those who ever needed help, whether he knew them for twenty years, or never met before. He had the most welcoming, warm smile, and undeniable “Gift of Gab.” Through this he could befriend anyone. Matt was also an extremely hard worker, with great ethic, and excelled in the many different work paths he went down. A few other things he loved included fishing, father/son family time watching the Eagles and other Philly teams, cooking breakfast for the kids, and making restaurant quality meals for the entire family (with a specialty in Seafood and Mexican cuisine).

Matt was taken too soon from all of us, and will be sorely missed. His love, strength, spirit, energy, loyalty, and big heart will live on through his children, family and friends, and we will all continue to celebrate his life as he would want us to do.

Matthew’s life will be honored and celebrated by his family privately.

Matt, I’ve been thinking about you a lot lately. It’s crazy how small the world is. Your daughter is in my sons class. They just had to do a science project together at your parents house. I still haven’t went over and seen them. It’s been super tough for me. Your son is a stud at baseball and I’m always around your pops at the games and tourneys. I just can’t get the courage up to go talk to him or your mom. Part of me is because I’m still upset with you. Part of me feels that I could have helped more. Could have been there more. I know we were both going different ways but whenever we got together we had a blast. I’m just still upset that you’re gone. I’m going to make some time to sit down and talk to your folks. Miss you man. Love always brother, Stretch.

Our entire family is overwhelmed with sadness over the loss of Matt. Tony and I are physically pained from this news. We watched Matt grow up while playing soccer and from going through elementary, middle and high school with Anthony. The indescribable pain in your hearts can only be imagined. Matt, Happy birthday For the past few days I have not stopped thinking about you. Every time I try to stop I remember something else about you or something else we did together. We were inseparable. Godson, my favorite memories of you: holding baby Matt during your baptism, the young teenage Matt visiting us in Houston three summers in a row and the house would double in laughter and shenanigans, the day trip to South Padre Island, the adult Matt in the center life's ring fighting the good fight, and the constant reliable smile any time I'd see you. We are all so very saddened by the news of Matt's passing. He was indeed a wonderful person - full of life and happiness. Always with a smile, a hug, a hello. We are hurting for Rosanne and Larry, who have been through so much. For Brooklyn, Matthew and Madison - who have lost a mother and father they loved. For Brett, Annie and Jeff - who have lost a big brother. We all were praying for a good outcome to his life. He is at peace with Linda. He loved her with all of his heart and she him. My condolences cannot express my grief for this family......most especially for Matt....across the pond, for his loving patrents, family and friends, and my own knowledge for having lost my beloved son.....no words can ever describe this loss, this grief or pain....my memories for Matt shall always remain.
