Mary Jane (Sis) Smith
(nee Briglia) On March 28, 2017, of Washington Twp., NJ Age 82. Beloved wife of the late Philip C. Devoted mother of Veronica Maunz, Catherine McKendry and Robert Fratanduono. Loving grandmother of Katherine and Carl. Dear sister of Joan Carrozzino and the late Catherine McKinnon.
Mary Jane (Sis) was a long-time resident of South Philadelphia and moved to Sewell, New Jersey with her family 17 years ago, She had strong religious beliefs and was a devoted Catholic. She attended St Monica’s Catholic school and went on to graduate Saint Monica’s Business School. Her career led her to Prudential Insurance Company as a young woman before getting married and having her children. Mary Jane reentered the work force many years later and was very well respected in the banking industry. Her long career with Fidelity Bank (First Union) was very enjoyable and rewarding to her. She built her life around people, as this was part of her everyday routine working in the banking industry. After 35 yrs, she retired and took care of her family once again as a devoted daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother.
Anyone who met her loved her and she returned that love in many ways. She enjoyed spending time with the family at the beach in the summer, as this was a big part of her and her family’s life. She made family a priority and believed in the saying “It takes a village to raise a Family”. Surrounding herself with her mom, dad, husband, her 3 children, 2 grand kids, nieces and nephews always brought out the best in her and all of us. When all the family got together she knew it would be nothing but a laughter filled event, and would take hours to say goodbye. Give her Family, the gran dog, the beach, a casino and a cocktail, she was a happy woman with a lot of love to give.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation Monday 9:30-10:30 AM at Mary Mother of Mercy Parish, 500 Greentree Rd., Glassboro, NJ 08028. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM. Interment Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown, NJ.
