Mary Jane Davis
(nee Cordell), 84, known to her Hammonton High School friends as “Corky”, passed away peacefully at her Sicklerville home with her daughter by her side on Friday, April 1, 2022.
Mary was born in Chester, Pa and lived many places including Hammonton, Mullica Hill, and Florida before setting in Sicklerville. She worked at CBS Records in the Sales Departmnt.; the Gloucester Cnty Courthouse as the Clerk; a Nurse’s Aid and Florist shop in Florida before retiring.
One of her greatest joys was being Mommom to her grandchildren who loved her orneriness which included making sure to be the first to sing Happy Birthday to them early in the morning, each birthday and feels her passing on April Fools Day was befitting of her prankster personality.
Mary had a very spirited personality and enjoyed spending time on the phone chatting with her many friends as well as meeting her Hammonton “lunch bunch” as often as possible. She was an extremely private person who took great pride in her protectiveness of her family and ability to take complete care of herself until the end. She also had a love of reading, animals, and crocheting blankets for her family and friends. A devoted caregiver to her cats, Gracie (a senior rescue cat); and Taz (whom she had and loved dearly for over 18 years).
Mary is predeceased by her parents Edward Cordell; Margaret (nee Moore) Cook; Stepfather Charles Cook; and her beloved son, Jon Davis.
She is survived by her daughter, Debra Davis; daughter in law, Lisa Davis; and sister, Gladys Ann Martin. She is the loving grandmother of Christian, Sean, Richie, Justin, and Jon, and great-grandmother of Emily, Joseph, Ben, and Iris. She is also loved by her nephews, Billy (Donna), and Brian.
Mary’s life will be honored and remembered privately by her family.
