Aunt Mary had a very full life that she enjoyed sharing with family and friends. She worked at the original Strawbridge & Clothier Store on 8th and Market Streets in Philadelphia for almost 30 years. During her time there she made countless friends consisting of both colleagues as well as her regular customers who consistently sought out her opinion and expertise in retail fashion. She took pride in her work and was well known for her impeccable taste in clothing and accessories. She enjoyed nights out to dinner in the city with her friends from Strawbridge’s as well as her close friends from the South Philadelphia neighborhood which she called home for over 50 years. Aunt Mary was also a devout Catholic who was an active and devoted member of Saint Maron’s Parish and participated in many Parish functions and events. She was also very fond of travelling and made several trips to Narragansett, Rhode Island where she was born and where she lived in her early adult years. She also enjoyed travelling to Kentucky to visit family in the summer months and during the holidays. She made many of these trips with her mother with whom she had a very close and loving relationship until her mother’s passing 30 years ago. Aunt Mary was a very astute and avid reader of current events and she could converse on many subjects of the day even during her last days with us. We will remember her sense of style, her appreciation of the finer things life had to offer, her love of sharing good times with family and friends and her beautiful smile!
